However, there is an onslaught of excessiveness with the amount of products that are out there. Granted, having options is always great, but it can be burdensome, time consuming and exhausting to sift through all the products on the market today. Thus, sometimes it can be worthwhile to take a step back and get back to the basics. DIY – doing it yourself allows you to become resourceful and most importantly it can be cost effective to anyone’s wallet.
Purchasing a facial mask at your local department store or drugstore is one option to rejuvenating your skin. However, why not try making your very own facial mask at home? A majority of the ingredients are most likely already in your refrigerator and cabinets.

If moisture is what you seek, try an avocado and olive oil mask.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 of an avocado
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
After mashing the 1/2 of an avocado, add the tablespoon of olive oil. Apply the mixture to your face. Leave on for about 20 minuntes and then rinse with warm water.
If you’re looking for a natural toner for the impending summer months, try an egg, strawberry, and lemon mask.
Ingredients:
- 2 egg whites
- 1 strawberry
- 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
Separate the egg white from the yolk. Beat the egg whites until bubbles form. After you mash the strawberry, add it to the egg whites along with the lemon juice. Apply the mixture to your face and leave on for about 10 minutes. Rinse with warm water or you can peel the mask off.
If you simply want to refresh your face, try a tomato, yogurt, and almond oil mask.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 of an tomato
- 1 tablespoon of greek yogurt or plain yogurt (Health tip: greek yogurt has 3x’s more protein than plain yogurt and is richer which keeps you full longer.)
- 1 tablespoon of almond oil ( almond oil is know to provide moisture to our skin while improving the complexion and overall appearance)
Peel the tomato and mash, combine the yogurt and almond oil. Apply the mixture to your face. Leave on for about 20 minuntes and then rinse with warm water.
For smoother looking skin, try a banana, yogurt and olive oil mask.
Ingredients:
- 1 banana
- 1 tablespoon of greek yogurt or plain yogurt
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
Combine the ingredients and apply the mixture to your face. Leave on for about 15 minuntes and then rinse with warm water.
