The countdown to the Met Gala is officially on, and Vogue is making sure we’re all paying attention. Not only did the iconic mag drop fire covers featuring this year’s co-hosts—Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, Lewis Hamilton, and Pharrell Williams—but they also gave us an editorial shoot that has the culture buzzing.
The shoot, created in partnership with GQ, is a preview for “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” the Met Costume Institute’s upcoming exhibition. This year’s theme, Black Dandyism, centers around the rich, expressive, and complex fashion traditions rooted in Black culture. Vogue took that inspiration and ran with it—serving us one of the most visually striking editorial shoots in recent memory.

From the styling to the casting, everything about this spread feels intentional. Styled by Law Roach, it’s bold, fresh, and, most importantly, feels like us. The shoot brings together a wide range of Black talent already influencing fashion, pop culture, and how we see ourselves.
Featured models are the definition of Black excellence.
But what makes it even better are the unexpected groupings we didn’t know we needed. Teyana Taylor and Janelle Monáe looking like fashion’s flyest dynamic duo. Yara Shahidi and Aaron Pierre posted up with a vintage bike like they just stepped out of a Black rom-com. Tyson Beckford and Noah Lyles are serving grown man elegance in tailored suits. Each image is a reminder that Black is collaborative, expressive, and always pushing things forward.
Fashion icons Dapper Don, Spike Lee, Lana Turner, and Daryl Dismond’s portrait is everything. Historic and timeless, yet so now, the snap shows why these trend titans retain the name recognition and respect today.

This shoot isn’t just about showing off designer labels (though yes, the luxury brands were out in full force—Gucci, Dior, Sergio Hudson, Tom Ford, Marni, Theophilio, Tiffany & Co, and so on). It’s about celebrating the power of Black creativity and how our style tells stories.
It honors where we’ve been and where we’re going.

1. Teyana Taylor and Janelle Monae
Both styled in Marni, Teyana and Janelle give us a black, red, and white moment we love. Teyana is slaing in Le Silla shoes, while Monáe rocks Jimmy Choo heels to complement her whimsical look.
2. Yara Shahidi and Aaron Pierre
Yara and Aaron pose in the meet-cute moment we didn’t know we needed. The actress and now podcaster, Yara, stuns in head-to-toe Gucci with Cartier earrings. Aaron, on the other hands chooses Tom Ford as his main fit designer, tying it together with Christian Louboutin shoes.
3. Law Roach
Law Roach pattern mixes like the pro his is wearing a bold plaid suit by Walter Van Beirendonck. It’s giving preppy meets powerful.
4. Adut Akech Bior
3-D floral for Spring? Yes please! Adut is exploding in color and fashion wearing a Marine Serre coat over a Ralph Lauren Collection shirt and pants. For accessories, she slays in an Esenshel hat and David Yurman ring.
5. Tyson Beckford and Noah Lyles
Game changers in their respective industries, Tyson and Noah are one good-looking duo. Supermodel Tyson wears a grey Bottega Veneta suit and burgundy button-down with a NYC fitted. We swoon at the style mashup! While Noah keeps it all the way dapper in a deep red Gucci suit with Jacques Marie Mage sunglasses and an Omega watch.
6. Julez Smith and Imaan Hammam
Imaan Hammam & Julez Smith rep up-and-coming voices in fashion. Giving preppy Irish vibes, the pair rock elevated red and black plaid fits. Imaan slays in Thom Browne and Torishéju. Julez, on the other hand, is a moment in Amiri and Dunhill.
