Mompreneurs: ‘Celebrity ‘Vagician’ Nakea Murray Talks Women’s Health And The Benefits Of Vaginal Steaming

This week on Mompreneurs. Nakea Murray shares how her own womb healing journey sparked her passion for women’s health. The “celebrity vagician” is a vaginal and womb health practitioner and founder of VTOX Intimate Health & Wellness in Philadelphia. The mother and grandmother sat down with Mompreneurs host Nancy Redd to reflect on building her business and a community of like-minded women focused on feminine health and healing.
The mompreneur followed her passion for vaginal and womb health, sparked by her own healing journey.
VTOX is a one-stop shop for feminine health and hygiene specializing in vaginal steaming—also known as yoni steaming or pelvic steaming. Murray and her daughter discovered the healing properties of pelvic steaming which helped relieve chronic infection and painful, heavy menstrual periods. “It was a game changer not only for myself but also my daughter,” said Murray. “Vaginal steaming saved the day, and people don’t believe me!”
Early on, Murray put herself out there, sharing her newfound passion with women all over the country before settling into a physical location outside Philly where she is today. She was determined to help more women discover the benefits of pelvic steaming and to offer healthier feminine hygiene products through her new venture. “Women should be using (products) that are naturally antibacterial, naturally antifungal, and not artificially scented, that are going to be healthy for the body,” said Murray.

Now a highly-rated feminine hygiene expert and “celebrity vagician,” Murray has built a community and clientele around VTOX despite the skeptics. “I talk to people from a standpoint of not talking over their head, but helping them learn more about why their body needs something like vaginal steaming,” she said. “It’s a delivery system, the same way that herbal tea is a delivery system. It is a way for medicinal properties of herbs to get into your bloodstream, and vaginal steaming just happens to be one of the fastest ways.”
‘I put a lot of people’s careers and lives in front of my own.’
After 20 years in the publishing industry, Murray decided to bet on herself by starting her own business. “It absolutely was worth it,” she told Redd. “It taught me that I was able to operate in my full creativity, that I was strong enough to be able to create something and see it through to fruition. I was always an excellent employee. I had all the accolades … (but) I put a lot of people’s careers and lives in front of my own.”
This journey was anything but easy for Murray and her children. It took hard work and a whole lot of sacrifice to get to where she is today. “We went through a lot of ups and downs through entrepreneurship,” she said. “We have experienced all different types of losses, gains … So they’ve lived through all of that. It was no crystal stair.”
Murray is passionate about bringing more women of color into the wellness space.
On the other side of this journey, Murray’s business opened the door to more opportunities and allowed her to connect with other women who share her passion for health and wellness. Along the way, Murray founded Black Girl Spa Club, a traveling spa club, in 2023.
She also co-founded BRWN GRL Wellness Studio. “I said, what if we could put together the best of the best of Black and Brown practitioners under one roof to introduce Black and Brown women to healing modalities from around the world?”
“Women need us more than ever,” she added. “I had a client tell me, ‘Black women heal Black women.’ It stuck with me and it’s been on my heart ever since. And this is where BRWN GRL Wellness came from.”
Mompreneurs Manifestation
Down the line, Murray is looking forward to expanding her business and her team. Her goal is to have a “full-service spa and wellness center” and to “build out a phenomenal team … because I no longer have the desire to be the solopreneur. I want to make sure that I am pouring into people and allowing people to pour into me, because Lord knows that I need it!”
