For years, women of color have been overlooked in the laser hair removal industry. Many traditional clinics lacked the proper technology and expertise to treat darker skin tones safely, often resulting in burns, hyperpigmentation, and a deep mistrust of the process.

Recognizing this gap, Keisha Wagner-Gaymon and Kristin Wagner launched PeachFuzz Laser to provide a space where melanated skin was not an afterthought but the priority. With a background as a nurse practitioner, she understood the importance of using the right technology and techniques for darker skin. As businesswomen, both founders were committed to creating an environment where clients felt seen, heard, and cared for.

For many of their clients, hair removal had been a long and frustrating struggle due to misinformation or negative past experiences. Seeing their confidence grow as they achieved safe, effective results reinforced the necessity of PeachFuzz Laser’s mission.

Growth & Innovation

What started as a Brooklyn brownstone studio has since expanded into two commercial locations—449 Nostrand Ave in Brooklyn and 425 Rockaway Ave in Valley Stream. But beyond physical growth, the true impact of PeachFuzz Laser lies in the lives it has transformed.

From helping clients feel more comfortable in their skin to training and uplifting employees, the company has made community its cornerstone. Whether hiring teens for summer jobs, covering tuition for employees to become certified laser technicians, or donating to local schools like PS11, PeachFuzz Laser is dedicated to fostering opportunities for those it serves.

The journey, however, has not been without challenges. As Black women in the beauty and wellness industry, the founders faced skepticism, funding hurdles, and the need to prove that laser services for skin of color were not just a niche market, but a necessity. Building the business during the pandemic added another layer of uncertainty, yet the overwhelming support from their clients proved that they were addressing a long-standing gap in the industry.

The Birth Of FuzzClinic & Target’s Forward Founders Accelerator

PeachFuzz Laser’s mission extended beyond hair removal. Many of its clients also struggled with hyperpigmentation, irritation, and ingrown hairs—issues that required specialized skincare solutions. This need led to the creation of FuzzClinic, a skincare line designed to address the unique concerns of melanated skin.

Their commitment to science, wellness, and self-care led to the development of targeted solutions, and their efforts were recognized when they were selected for Target’s Forward Founders Accelerator. The program provided mentorship, resources, and strategic connections that helped the brand scale successfully. This experience reinforced the belief that inclusive skincare is not a niche—it’s a necessity.
