Move over Patti Stanger—there’s a new matchmaker in town, and her name is Tyomi Morgan. Tyomi launched the Poly Matchmaking Agency in Atlanta on Feb. 25, offering exactly what the name suggests: a matchmaking service for those who identify as polyamorous.

Polyamory is a relationship style where individuals have more than one romantic or sexual partner at the same time, with the consent of all parties involved. It’s a form of ethical non-monogamy that emphasizes open, honest communication and personal choice regarding the number of partners.

Unlike traditional monogamy, polyamory rejects the idea that sexual and relational exclusivity are required for a committed relationship. Polyamory differs from polygamy, which involves having more than one spouse, and from swinging or partner swapping, which typically involves casual sexual encounters with other couples. At its core, polyamory is based on the agreement of all partners involved, allowing for the expression of love and intimacy in a way that goes beyond conventional norms.

Polyamory has been trending recently, thanks in part to celebrity Ne-Yo. During an appearance last year on the podcast Lemon Drop The Show, the 45-year-old admitted that monogamy just isn’t for him. “I realized that I had not been living my truth for a very, very long time,” he shared.

“Now I’m living it, and you can tell—my skin is glowing. I’m in a great space—mentally, emotionally, and everything else.” Ne-Yo went on to explain, “Everything is not for everybody.  Society tells you that you’re supposed to be with one person. You get married, and you’re supposed to be together forever. I’m not sh–ting on marriage, and I’m not sh–ting on anyone who’s figured out how to make that work for them. Monogamy for you? It’s not for me. I know this now, and it’s like a weight lifted off my shoulders.”

He added, “I spent so much time lying, trying to be somebody I wasn’t for the sake of somebody else. Complete and utter time wasted, when I could have just been exactly who I am, said exactly what I wanted, and waited for the right people to gravitate toward me. That’s my reality now.”

And Ne-Yo is far from alone. Polyamorous relationships have been steadily gaining visibility and acceptance since 2021. As societal norms around love and commitment continue to evolve, more people are exploring alternatives to traditional monogamy.

 The Inspiration Behind The Agency

A study published in Frontiers in Psychology found that around 4–5% of individuals in romantic relationships identify as non-monogamous, signaling a shift in how people approach love and connection. Even more striking, another study revealed that 19.6–21.9% of people have engaged in some form of non-monogamy at some point in their lives.

While non-monogamy may still be considered unconventional by some, it is far from rare. As more individuals seek relationships that reflect their personal values and desires, polyamory is emerging as a legitimate and respected choice for those embracing non-traditional models of intimacy.

This is exactly why the Poly Matchmaking Agency is launching at the perfect time and in the ideal city. I spoke with the founder, Tyomi Morgan, to learn more about why she felt this was the right moment and to gain insight into her vision for the agency.

The 37-year-old shared her personal journey and the inspiration behind the agency. As a certified dating coach, polyamorous matchmaker, and sexologist, Tyomi has embraced the polyamorous lifestyle for most of her adult life. “I started living this lifestyle before I even knew it was called poly,” she explains. “I just knew I was open.”

Despite facing challenges in navigating polyamory—such as encountering obstacles with traditional matchmaking platforms that don’t serve polyamorous individuals—Tyomi saw an opportunity to create a space where polyamorous people could find meaningful, emotional connections.

The idea for the Poly Matchmaking Agency came to Tyomi while she was at a lifestyle resort. “I literally saw this flash in front of my eyes,” she recalls. “I think I’m supposed to be doing a matchmaking service for poly people.” With guidance from her mentor, Tana Gilmore—of Bravo’s Love Match Atlanta—who praised her as the perfect person to lead this endeavor, Tyomi realized she was on the verge of trailblazing an industry that had yet to serve polyamorous individuals in the way she envisioned.

“I’ve created true matchmaking and dating coaching for people in the polyamorous community,” Tyomi explains. Unlike membership-based services, where people simply browse a database, Tyomi’s agency offers personalized matchmaking services and relationship coaching to ensure successful, meaningful connections. The Poly Matchmaking Agency is specifically designed for those who identify as polyamorous and seek emotionally bonded, romantic relationships.

More Than Just Sex Guaranteed

Tyomi is careful not to serve those seeking only casual sexual encounters or those interested in swinging. “We’re focused on people who truly want relationships, not just multiple sex partners,” she notes.

The matchmaking process at the agency is thorough. Clients begin with a consultation where Tyomi learns about their personality, relationship history, and what they are seeking. This is followed by four sessions of date coaching, where clients refine their profiles, receive advice, and prepare for their first dates.

Afterward, Tyomi guarantees five matches based on compatibility, and she continues to serve as a liaison between the potential matches until both parties are comfortable sharing contact information.

She sees her agency growing in the future, with multiple agents serving clients nationwide. Her goal is to provide high-quality matchmaking for polyamorous individuals of all ethnicities, genders, and orientations. She also envisions hosting meetups, events, and eventually launching an app that attracts quality polyamorous individuals.

For those uncertain whether poly matchmaking is for them, Tyomi suggests visiting the agency’s website to read through informational resources, including a glossary of polyamory terms and blog posts. “Some people don’t even know that they’re poly,” she explains. “The website and quiz can help them clarify their identity before they decide if they want to move forward with matchmaking.”

The Poly Matchmaking Agency is now open for business and poised to provide a much-needed service to the growing polyamorous community. As Tyomi’s agency gains traction, it’s clear that polyamory is becoming a legitimate and respected choice for many, and Tyomi is leading the charge in making meaningful connections possible for people who embrace a non-traditional approach to love, intimacy, and connection.
