Today is Rihanna’s 37th birthday, and she has plenty to celebrate!

Not only is she another year more fabulous, but her longtime love, A$AP Rocky, was just found not guilty on Tuesday of firing a handgun at a former friend, A$AP Relli, on a Hollywood street in 2021. Through it all, their bond has remained unshakable.

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have been friends since 2012 before publicly becoming a couple eight years later. Since then, they’ve given fans countless adorable and heartwarming moments that prove their love is the real deal.

1. Rihanna and A$AP Confirm Their Pregnancy

After several months of whispers about Rihanna being pregnant with her and A$AP Rocky’s first child, the couple finally confirmed the speculation on Jan. 31, 2022. Photos of them walking hand-in-hand in the streets of Rocky’s hometown, Harlem, went viral.

Rihanna wore a hot pink jacket, unbuttoned from her stomach down, showcasing her baby bump. Other photos showed Rocky kissing Rihanna on the forehead and the two looking at each other with a gaze of love.

2. A$AP Makes Rihanna Blush

Following the announcement of their first pregnancy, Rihanna took every moment to put her tummy on display. In February 2022, she wore a shimmery green halter top as the pair attended her Fenty Beauty Universe Event event.

The two were doing separate interviews when Rocky suddenly stopped his to cutely bombard the “Needed Me” singer’s. As he made his way over, the E! News reporter interviewing Rihanna pretended to plead with Rocky by saying he “was not that close to her.” After they all got done laughing, the reporter asked Rocky, “What’s your favorite product?” 

Without barely taking a full second to think he answered, “Her” and did a head nod towards Rihanna. Rihanna, who clearly wasn’t expecting the answer, chuckled and said, “See, he’s a keeper.”

3. D.M.B. Music Video

As two renowned artists, it’s only natural for the couple to collaborate. Long before their relationship, A$AP Rocky teamed up with Rihanna in 2012 to feature on the remix of her hit song “Cockiness.” In 2013, she was the leading lady in his song “Fashion Killer.” Fast forward to May 2022 when Rocky dropped his music video for “D.M.B.” and his friend-turned-girlfriend once again played his main squeeze.

The video depicts Rihanna being a ride-or-die girlfriend always showing up for Rocky even in all the times he’s gone to jail in the video. At the end of the love story, Rocky asks Rihanna to marry him with the words spelled out in his grill. As she smiles her grill spells out the words “I do” and the two tie the knot. 

4. Infamous Super Bowl Performance

Nine months after welcoming their first son RZA, Rihanna was set to do her big performance at the Super Bowl in February 2023. Leave it to RiRi to have her fans shook after the highly anticipated show. But the shock value had less to do with her actual performance and more to do with the fact that she was pregnant again!

Her belly sticking out like a sore thumb, Rihanna danced and sang away in a red ensemble in a crowd full of her backup dancers wearing similar clothes to her outfit but in all white.

Throughout the night, fans and viewers took to social media to ask if the singer was pregnant again, while some thought that it may just be baby weight from her son— whom she had given birth to less than a year prior.

But People confirmed that same night after the performance that the “Work” singer was indeed pregnant again. That night she made history by becoming the first Super Bowl headliner to perform while pregnant! 

5. Rihanna Opens Up About Her Family With Rocky In British Vogue

A couple of days after her big performance an interview with Rihanna in British Vogue was published and the singer spilled all the tea about the new family she’s built with the New York native. 

Describing the dynamic of their relationship she said, “We’re best friends with a baby. We have to be on the same page, but we’ve always kind of had that in our relationship. Everything changes when you have a baby but I wouldn’t say it’s done anything but made us closer.” 

The new mom also played fake jealous that her son RZA and Rocky seemed to have a closer bond than she was able to have with her firstborn. 

“I’m just sitting on the sidelines when they’re together,” she said. “I’m literally the girl trying to get into the boys club, waiting for my turn. He is obsessed with his father. And I’m like: ‘Didn’t I give birth to you? What is going on?’ Their connection is undeniable. The second Rocky makes eye contact with him he is on fire. The whole thing they say about sons and moms, it’s a myth. Sons and fathers is crazy. I realised that the validation that you really need as a boy is from your father.”

6. Rocky’s Beats By Dre Commercial

Rocky and Rihanna collaborated once again for the launch of Beats By Dre’s Studio Pro. In the July 2023 commercial, directed by Rocky, the father is working on some music. Suddenly, Rihanna—who can only hear yelling but has never seen— says, “Babe, can you go to the store? We ran out of diapers.”

Suddenly Rocky throws on some Beats headphones and sets out on his mission to get more diapers. The video shows him running through the streets of New York into a bodega called AWGE, which is named after his creative agency. He quickly grabs a pack of diapers, which genius-ly has a photo of RZA’s face on the front of AWGEY’s diapers. He then hurries back home, all while escaping fans and paparazzi, places the pampers on the table, and returns to his music. But his journey isn’t over. 

The commercial ends with Rihanna’s voice again screaming, “Babe, you got to go back. These are the wrong size!”

7. Rihanna And Rocky Cause A Riot With The Release Of Family Pictures With Their New Son

Skipping to August 2023, Rihanna and Rocky expanded their family by welcoming their second son Riot. By that next month, pictures surfaced of the couple stepping out with their two boys in their first photoshoot as a foursome. The beaming parents each held a son—Rocky held the oldest, while Rihanna held the youngest—and it became clear that their kids each inherited their looks from their “Fashion Killa” parents.

Chatting with Interview magazine in April 2024, Rihanna opened up once more about her relationship with Rocky. She set the record straight for fans who speculated she and Rocky were dating back in 2012. She said they were not an item when she was in his “Fashion Killa” music video. They were just friends. Since the two were both involved with music, and later on, fashion, they often ended up being in the same circles. However, their romance did not begin until 2019.

She explained, “We’ve known each other for a long time. I’ve seen him in relationships. He’s seen me in relationships. We’ve seen each other outside of relationships. We knew what we’re capable of, and the trouble that we could bring to each other’s lives. We can make or break each other’s hearts. And so, we started dating with a lot of caution.” 

But over the course of four years their relationship has progressed a ton—from friends, to romance, to parents of two children. Rihanna said they have the 2020 pandemic to thank for that. 

She said, “COVID sped up our relationship, which I felt like God knew we needed because we were going to start a family. And had it not been for COVID, we would’ve taken a lot more time to get comfortable with each other, to even know that we were ready.” 

The Fenty Beauty founder said she let “God lead” the relationship, adding, “I just let whatever was supposed to happen, happen. It was just, ‘This is a flower. It’s either going to die or blossom. But I’m going to let it decide itself.’”

9. Rocky Reveals How He and Rihanna First Met

In an October 2024 interview with W Magazine, Rocky shared how he and Rihanna first came in contact with one another. “I was kicked out of this nightclub,” he said. “They wasn’t giving me no access to it. This is when I’m just starting out, so nobody knows me. I was with Matthew Williams and Virgil. I was getting into it with the bouncers, and she came out. We just locked eyes. She didn’t even know us, but she was like, ‘Yo! Why y’all not letting him in? What’s wrong with you?! Let that man in!’”

He said he knew from their “younger” days that Rihanna was the one to be the mother of his children. So it’s no surprise that it finally happened when they “reconnected.”

As for his kids, Rocky seemed to have already worked out his sons’ differing personalities. He said, “I think Rza is going to keep to himself. He’s an introvert. Riot’s an extrovert—he’s just like his mom. Rza is more so like his dad, like me. And he’s my twin. He got his mom’s forehead, but he got everything else from me. I love my boy’s big forehead! 10. Rihanna Stands By Her Man During Rocky’s 2025 Trial

Amid their bubbly romance, Rocky was battling in the courts for his freedom. He was on trial for two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm following a confrontation with his former high school friend A$AP Relli. Initially, authorities charged him in November 2021 and he was facing 24 years in state prison. But on Feb. 18, 2025 a nervous Rocky went from breathing hard to emotionally hugging his legal team as the verdict came back “Not Guilty.” He then walked over and dove into Rihanna’s arms to celebrate the win!
