Mompreneurs: Growing A Health Empire With Keaira LaShae
Mompreneurs: Growing A Health And Fitness Empire With The ‘Queen of Proteins’ Keaira LaShae
Keaira LaShae never expected to become a fitness guru. The singer-songwriter pivoted to the business of helping people look and feel their best—and hasn’t looked back since. Alongside husband and business partner, Kevin “KP” Price, LaShae continues to grow the couple’s family-run health and fitness empire—built on the success of a thriving YouTube channel, fitness app, supplement manufacturing company, with more exciting ventures on the horizon.
LaShae sat down with host Nancy Redd for this week’s episode of Mompreneurs. The multifaceted mom of three opened up about the highs and lows of growing the business and shared what’s next on her to-do list as she strives to build not just generational wealth, but “cultural wealth.”
LaShae’s path into the fitness world was an unexpected turn.
LaShae came up in the entertainment industry as a singer-songwriter and all-around performer—collaborating with Grammy award-winning producers and appearing as a contestant on The Voice.
The artist began posting videos of fun dance fitness routines online—and they were an instant hit. As the views racked up, she decided to focus her energy on this new venture. “It was such an interesting twist. I did not expect that,” she said. “So that’s when I pivoted. I said, okay, well … let me just see where this takes me.”
“I like to make fitness fun. If it’s fun, you’ll keep coming back.”

Being her authentic self helped her business grow.
LaShae allowed herself to be transparent with her audience from day one. “I’m an open book when it comes to my community,” she said. “I was not trying to be perfect. I was just being me.”
Becoming a mom only helped her popularity grow. “The authenticity of me being a mother, getting back in shape, and trying to eat healthy—people could relate to that, so it really helped my business,” she said.
Today, the family oversees a growing health and fitness empire.
In addition to the fitness side of the family business—including the If You Can Move app—LaShae and KP are focused on scaling their health supplements company. Just Move Supplements is uniquely the first and only Black-owned supplement manufacturer in the United States. They handle every part of the process—from formulating and testing products to manufacturing and everything in between.
Just Move’s vibrant product line of protein powders, fat burners, capsules, and more gained a loyal following—infused with unique flavors inspired by LaShae’s grandmother’s desserts—like banana pudding, lemon pound cake, and sweet potato pie.
Though manufacturing these products was a massive undertaking, LaShae was focused on her vision. “I knew that once we get this right, it’s gonna go off,” she said. “Especially for our community, we don’t have something like this. We’re not anywhere in this supplement space at all. If we are, we’re getting it made from somewhere else—but we’re not in this manufacturing space.”
Being vulnerable with her community allowed LaShae to keep the business running.
LaShae shared that despite the success of Just Move’s products, they were on the verge of closing down last year. “Honestly, about a month ago, I was about to close the doors to this business,” she told Redd. “It wasn’t from the lack of success. It was from having a lot of success and growth and not being able to keep up with it.”
Her mother encouraged her to speak up, and she posted a video online sharing the challenges that the business was facing. The response was huge, spurred by Slutty Vegan CEO and founder Pinky Cole who helped spread the word. When all was said and done, the community kept the business afloat in their time of need.
“They rallied around us and made sure that this brand was appreciated,” LaShae said. “So that was a turning point for me—like okay, we’re doing something right. We’re making a difference in our community and that’s what matters to us.”
The mompreneur’s ultimate goal is to create not just generational wealth, but cultural wealth.
Building on the success of their business, the family is looking forward to expanding into agriculture and food. “This is only the beginning,” said LaShae. “We’re going to get into food as well. We’ll be working with Black farmers, because they don’t get enough support, grocery stores, and things like that to create cultural wealth and show people that we can do it too.”
