1. Take a Cooking Class (or Cook Together)

Cooking can be a fun, interactive experience that allows you to bond or get creative on your own. For couples, it’s a great way to work together in the kitchen, while singles can join a group or invite friends for a night of culinary exploration.

2. Go on a Scenic Hike Or Walks

If you love nature, why not spend Valentine’s Day outside? Go on a beautiful hike, walk around a local park, or take a scenic stroll through your city. It’s a peaceful way to enjoy the day and connect with your surroundings, whether you’re with a partner or enjoying your own company.

If you’re in a relationship, revisit some of your favorite spots around the city, like the restaurant you love for lunch or the park or bar where you first met. Singles can do the same. Take a trip down memory lane and visit places that hold special meaning to you.

3. Spa Day or Self-Care Night.

Treat yourself (or each other) to some pampering. Book a spa day for a relaxing massage, facial, or mani-pedi. If you’re single, indulge in a DIY spa night at home with face masks, a bubble bath, and your favorite pampering products. It’s the perfect way to unwind and show yourself some love.

4. Have a Movie Marathon

A cozy movie marathon is a classic way to spend Valentine’s Day. For couples, pick romantic movies or films that both of you love. If you’re single, gather your best friends for a themed movie marathon, whether it’s rom-coms, thrillers, or an entire series binge. Don’t forget the popcorn.

5. DIY Crafting: Create Personalized Gifts

Nothing says “I care” like a homemade or store-bought gift. Whether you’re making a scrapbook, purchasing hand-painted mugs, or personalized candles, gifting something special shows thought and effort. If you’re in a relationship, consider crafting a gift for your partner. If you’re single, purchase something for yourself or as a fun surprise for a friend.

If you’re on a budget and looking for a few ideas, Lauren Brown, a senior visuals editor told Glamour in an article published Feb. 5, that she loves purchasing second-hand Valentine’s Day cards as they have a unique vintage look, making the gift stand out.

“This will be my second year buying secondhand valentines and sending them to friends. Why does it seem like the designs of yesteryear used to be so much more thoughtful and cool? I found a lot of Valentine’s Day cards on eBay from the ’40s and ’50s, and I can’t wait to distribute them to all my homies,” Brown said.

Many cities offer Valentine’s Day events, such as themed concerts, festivals, or special dinners. But if you’d rather stay in, why not host your own party? Whether you’re into art, music, or delicious food, create an event that reflects what you enjoy. Invite your partner or friends to join in the fun and celebrate the day together. It’s a fantastic way to soak in the festive vibe and make lasting memories.

If you’re a single lady, take the day to party it up with your close gal pals. Tascha Berkowitz, an assistant fashion editor, shared with Glamour that she hosts a Galentine’s Day party for her best girlfriends every year.

“It’s the perfect excuse to get creative and celebrate friendship! I always look forward to crafting, decorating, and making everything feel and look extra special,” she said. “My apartment transforms into a pink haven for the night (or at least, a little more pink than it already is), filled with candles, ribbons, the prettiest treats, and the best memories with my girls!”

7. Go on a Solo Date

Being single on Valentine’s Day can be empowering! Take yourself out on a solo date and enjoy your own company. Go to a museum, visit your favorite café, or treat yourself to a nice dinner. It’s a chance to celebrate your independence and do whatever makes you happy.

Spending quality time alone comes with a range of incredible health benefits, too. When you go on a solo date, it’s not just about enjoying your own company; it’s also an opportunity for personal growth and self-discovery, according to Unplugged. Taking yourself out can help boost your confidence, as it encourages you to step outside of your comfort zone, try new experiences, and even meet new people. It’s a chance to reconnect with yourself, reflect on your goals, and practice self-love, all of which contribute to a healthier, more balanced mindset. By embracing time on your own, you can learn to enjoy your independence and feel empowered in your own skin.

8. Volunteer Together or Individually

Spread love by giving back. Volunteer at a local charity or organization and make a positive impact in your community. For couples, it’s a meaningful way to connect over a shared purpose. If you’re single, you can still volunteer independently and feel good about contributing to a cause you care about.

9. Plan a Future Adventure

Planning a vacation, even if it’s far off, can be a fun and hopeful activity that fills your heart with excitement.
