Are you a toxic person? An interesting personality assessment from Truity might help you identify traits that could be damaging your friendships and relationships and seven key personality archetypes that can help you identify these characteristics.
Released in 2021, The Toxic Person Test uses the Big Five personality model to highlight behaviors that may signal toxic tendencies. This model breaks down personality into five core dimensions: Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism. The assessment focuses on three key traits—Neuroticism (how we handle negative emotions), Conscientiousness (how we manage tasks and responsibilities), and Agreeableness (how we interact and cooperate with others)—to help pinpoint areas where you may be struggling.
The test presents users with a series of thought-provoking questions, such as whether they prefer to be “treated like one of the crowd” or if they consider themselves better at lying than most people. Respondents rate each statement on a scale from “inaccurate” to “accurate.” After completing the test, users receive a profile that uncovers their key traits within the Big Five personality dimensions and correlates them with “commonly loathed archetypes” that exemplify these toxic behaviors, the New York Post notes.
Here are seven common personality archetypes associated with toxic people.

1. The Karen
According to the team at Truity, there are seven common personality archetypes that they see from test takers, one of which is the “Karen.” Karens are known for their entitled, aggressive behavior, constantly demanding special treatment and reacting poorly when it’s not given.
A high-profile example of a Karen was Amy Cooper, the white woman who falsely accused a Black man, Christian Cooper, of threatening her in Central Park in 2020, NewsOne reported. This occurred after Christian politely asked her to leash her dog in an area where birdwatching was popular.
Instead of complying, Amy Cooper called the police, claiming that Christian was threatening her life, all while struggling to leash her dog, which was visibly being dragged and possibly choked. She was subsequently fired from her job and charged with falsifying a police report.
According to Truity, Karens tend to lack agreeableness, believing they deserve preferential treatment and prioritizing their own needs over others.

2. The Mansplainer
There’s also “The Mansplainer.” Mansplainers are arrogant, believing they’re intellectually superior to others. They have low agreeableness and a high sense of superiority, often giving unsolicited advice and trying to outshine others in knowledge. Arrogant, judgmental, and overconfident, Mansplainers can be dismissive, often “teaching” on topics they aren’t qualified on.

3. Drama Llama
People who thrive on drama and attention-seeking are typically known to be Drama Llamas. They love creating and escalating emotional turmoil. They’re also high in neuroticism, turning negative emotions into dramatic displays that demand attention and support.

4. The Slacker
Slackers avoid responsibility and rarely contribute. With low conscientiousness, they’re aimless and unreliable, preferring to coast through life without long-term goals or ambition. Slackers are typically lazy, passive, and indecisive.

5. The Con Artist
A stark contrast to the Slacker, Con Artists are manipulative and deceitful, using dishonesty to get ahead. Like Karens, they lack agreeableness, but their focus is on manipulation and self-interest.

6. Debbie Downer
Then, there are the Debbie Downers, people who are relentless and painfully pessimistic. Debbie Downers typically focus on the worst aspects of every situation. They’re high in neuroticism, bringing others down with their constant negativity, pessimism, and defeat.

7. Control Freak
Last but not least, Control Freaks are rigid and inflexible, obsessively managing every detail to ensure their plans unfold exactly as they want. They have high conscientiousness but lack adaptability, and they fear others will disrupt their carefully laid plans. Control freaks can be rigid, inflexible, perfectionist, and extremely stubborn.
