Over the years, several Black women have publicly expressed their support for Donald Trump, whether through political endorsement, advocacy, or aligning with his policies. While support for Trump among the Black community has often been a topic of debate due to his stringent political views, discriminatory policies, and well-documented history of racism, these women have made their voices heard, loud and clear.
While baffling, some of these well-known stars believe the controversial Republican has the potential to lead the U.S. toward a future that ensures greater equality and justice for people of color. Others have changed their stance about the divisive political figure over time.
Here’s a look at 10 Black women who have shown support for Donald Trump over the years.
1. Candace Owens
A prominent conservative commentator and political activist, Candace Owens has been an outspoken supporter of Donald Trump. Known for her criticism of the Black Lives Matter movement and progressive policies, Owens often defends Trump’s policies, particularly on issues related to free speech and economic empowerment.
During a September 2024 interview with The Breakfast Club, Owens expressed her belief that Trump would be a better president for Black Americans, citing his strong economic policies and his direct, no-nonsense approach to speaking honestly with the American public.
“In terms of the better candidate for Black Americans, I asked people the question, how were you living under Trump? The person that they told you was going to put us back into chains, we were all going to be slaves again,” the right-wing podcaster said. “How was the economy under Trump? And how are you doing today?… And everyone knows that they were living better under Trump because he was deregulating the environment.”
Owens continued, “He is, in my opinion, a better president, because at least he’s telling you the truth and he’s telling you what he actually thinks. You know, one of the things that I hated the most about him, when he first came down…I was like, ‘Oh, he’s way too brash. You know, Obama sounds way more polite,’ but I asked the question, do you want to be politely lied to, or have somebody that’s at least telling you what they think about you in no uncertain terms? So, you know, I like Trump for a ton of reasons, and for me, it was always about the economic arguments and I know he was going to be a better candidate for Black Americans because of that.”

2. Stacey Dash

The actress and former Fox News political commentator gained attention for her support of Trump during the 2016 election. Dash has been a vocal critic of the Democratic Party and has advocated for conservative values, including promoting smaller government and economic self-reliance.
One year after the deadly 2017 “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, Dash shockingly claimed that Trump was “absolutely right” when he said there should be “blame” placed on both the white nationalists (the organizers of the right-wing event) and counter-protestors who fought during the rally that left one person dead and over a dozen people injured, according to Time.
“There were two extreme sides. Both sides had a right to assemble but they were both extremes,” Dash told Ari Melber during a March 2018 interview on MSNBC.
Puzzled by her perspective, Melber asked the Clueless actress for her thoughts, pointing out that while white supremacists were responsible for organizing the hate-filled rally on one side, there was no equivalent hate group pushing back on the other. Without hesitation, Dash continued to defend Trump, asserting that the white supremacists were simply exercising their First Amendment rights.
When asked if she agreed with the president-elect’s statement that both the white nationalists and counter-protesters were “fine people,” the actress reaffirmed her support for the Republican.
“I’m not here to judge. Do I know every person on the neo-Nazi party — if they have a good heart or not? No, I don’t, I’m not here to judge.”
Dash eventually apologized for supporting Trump in 2021.

3. Diamond and Silk

The late Ineitha “Diamond” Lynnette Hardaway and Herneitha Rochelle “Silk” Hardaway Richardson, better known as Diamond and Silk, are two social media personalities who became widely recognized for their unwavering support of Trump. The sister duo used their platforms to promote the Republican’s policies and defend him against criticism, particularly during the 2016 and 2020 elections.
The right-wing media personalities became frequent attendees at Trump rallies, consistently showering the president with praise for his polarizing political policies. They were also present at Trump’s 2017 inauguration and gained significant popularity online for their political commentary on YouTube, where they frequently expressed support for the GOP.
Their internet success led to a brief stint as contributors at Fox News, but their relationship with the network ended in 2020 after the sisters publicly claimed, on-air, that COVID-19 death figures were being manipulated to damage Trump’s reputation. A few months later, Diamond and Silk were picked up by Newsmax to host their own show, Diamond and Silk: Crystal Clear. Throughout their careers, the duo has consistently referred to themselves as Trump’s “most loyal supporters.”
When Diamond passed away in 2023, Trump took to his Truth Social platform to pay tribute to the 51-year-old star.
“Really bad news for Republicans and frankly, ALL Americans. Our beautiful Diamond, of Diamond and Silk, has just passed away at her home in the State she loved so much, North Carolina,” Trump penned. “Silk was with her all the way, and at her passing. There was no better TEAM anywhere, or at any time! Diamond’s death was totally unexpected, probably her big and precious HEART just plain gave out. Rest In Peace our Magnificent Diamond, you will be greatly missed!”

Singer Chrisette Michele made headlines in 2017 for performing at Trump’s inauguration, which sparked significant controversy in the Black community. Despite the backlash, Michele defended her decision, citing a desire to bridge divides and promote unity.
After her performance, Michele opened up about the experience in a series of Instagram posts in 2020, revealing that she lost an album distribution deal, received numerous death threats, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and experienced a miscarriage after her inauguration appearance, according to Essence.

5. Amber Rose

Amber Rose, model and activist, has been known to express her political views openly. She made her support for Trump loud and clear in 2024 during the Republican’s presidential campaign. The former dancer and reality TV star openly endorsed Trump on Instagram in May of last year, by posting a photo of the 78-year-old with his wife Melania with the caption “Trump 2024.”
Rose, 41, doubled down on her support for the infamous MAGA leader after he was convicted of falsifying business records and paying hush money to former porn star Stormy Daniels later that year.
“Isn’t Donald Trump advocating for women’s rights too? He’s aiming to ‘Make America Great Again,’ and that includes women, doesn’t it?” Rose said during an interview with TMZ in June 2024.
“I’m still in his corner. I think his legal issues might even garner him more support. People see the unfairness and rally behind him more than ever.”

6. Tina Campbell

In January 2017, Tina Campbell, one-half of the gospel duo Mary Mary, penned an open letter on Facebook expressing her support for Trump. In the letter, Campbell acknowledged that while many past leaders of America have been “far from perfect,” she chose to believe in and send prayers to Trump for a successful presidency.
“I understand that Mr. Donald Trump is our new president, not our God, so as a citizen I choose to have a sensible expectation of him, accompanied by much prayer for him, and a complete dependency on God to work through him, as well as the others that are in office, to secure the welfare of this nation,” Campbell continued. “I choose to opt out of fear of the unknown but rather opt into hopeful expectation because if God is for us nothing can successfully stand against us.”
She added, “I believe that understanding and compassion is absolutely necessary for the progress of all people. So, although I don’t always understand or agree with Mr. Donald Trump’s politics, perspective, and approach, I believe that the same God that created all of us has deposited greatness inside of him that goes far beyond what many of us have seen and what many of us could imagine. I believe that God can do exceeding abundantly above all that we can ask or think, according to the power that works in us. I believe that the power that works in us is our ability to love, and unify, and humble ourselves, and forgive, and hope, and pray, and educate ourselves, and apply wisdom and hard work to knowledge. I choose to believe that that same power that comes from Almighty God is at work in Mr. Donald Trump, and it will be used for the greater good of this nation and its people.”

7. Alveda King

The niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Alveda King has publicly supported Trump, particularly regarding his stance on issues connected to prison reform, equality, and mending international relations. In a 2018 interview with Fox News, Alveda condemned claims that Trump was a “racist,” citing his extensive work to preserve her uncle’s legacy.
“Racism is just a word that’s being banded and thrown about and thrown at the president, in my opinion, unjustly. President Trump is not a racist,” the civil rights activist said.
“I’ve been with the president recently quite a bit, and when he signed the legislation making the historic site, Martin Luther King site in Atlanta, Georgia, a national park. It was introduced by Congressman John Lewis, and that, believe it or not, that’s one thing the two of them did together. He puts his money where his mouth is. He puts his energy behind it and is making America great again.”
In the same breath, Alveda defended Trump’s use of the term “shithole countries,” a comment he made in reference to Haiti and Africa while speaking to a group of bipartisan senators at a White House meeting in January 2018.
“You know, Africa is a huge continent with many nations. There was no offense to the people, a lot of dignity to the people, but the hell holes, in that, some of their own leaders in Africa and Haiti have taken advantage of them and the area and done a disservice to the people,” Alveda argued.
“I believe that President Trump not only understands that but is making America great again, so we can be a big help to clean up some of the hell holes across the world and in our own nation.”

8. Azealia Banks

Controversial rapper and artist Azealia Banks has expressed support for Trump in several social media posts. Banks, known for her outspoken and often provocative remarks, praised Trump’s policies during the 2016 election.
“I REALLY want Donald Trump to win the election,” she wrote in May of that year, according to Yahoo News.
“Trump is an a–hole but he’s not been groomed and programmed on some mkultra tip to DO & SAY what the establishment wants him to,” the “212” rapper continued. “Trump just wants the U.S. to be lavish…. for all of us. I can f— with that.”
Banks also offered to perform at the Republican’s inauguration, but she never received an invite, Billboard reported.
The rapper changed her stance on Trump in 2024 when he began allying with tech billionaire Elon Musk, who was one of the president-elect’s biggest campaign supporters last year.
“I really think keeping Elon Musk away from any type of political power in the USA is tantamount to any issue on the table here. You have to be a complete idiot to think that dirtbag cares about anyone or anything other than himself,” Banks wrote on X in November 2024.

9. Omarosa Manigault Newman

Source: Variety / Getty
Former Apprentice star and political advisor to Trump, Omarosa Manigault Newman was one of the most prominent Black women in the Trump administration. Although she later became a vocal critic of Trump after leaving the White House, her early support for him was clear. Manigault Newman joined Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and later became the director of communications for the White House Office of Public Liaison, a position she held until her highly publicized dismissal in 2017.
The duo’s relationship turned sour after the release of Manigault Newman’s 2018 tell-all book, Unhinged: An Insider’s Account of the Trump White House, which details the reality TV star’s time under the Trump administration. In the memoir, Manigault Newman called Trump “a racist, a bigot, and a misogynist.” She also claimed that former Vice President Mike Pence and other Cabinet members were “simply biding their time” until Trump was impeached or resigned.
Trump fired back at the memoir with a formal legal complaint later that year, arguing that Manigault Newman’s book violated the terms of a nondisclosure agreement she had previously signed while working with his campaign in 2016.

10. Sexyy Red

“Pound Town” rapper Sexyy Red professed her love for Trump during an appearance on This Past Weekend with Theo Von in October 2023.
Red’s questionable support for “45” came to light when Theo asked the St. Louis native if more people in the “hood” were going to support Trump ahead of election season.
“I like Trump!” the 26-year-old rhymer blurted. “Yeah, they support him in the hood,” she continued. “At first, I don’t think people was f–king with him. They thought he was racist, saying little sh-t against women. But once he started getting Black people out of jail and giving people that free money. Aww, baby, we love Trump. We need him back in office.”
Red praised the notorious MAGA leader for handing out stimulus checks during the COVID-19 pandemic before complimenting the indicted Republican and the soon-to-be president’s annoying sense of humor.
“We need him back because them stimulus checks? Trump, we miss you! I love Trump. He’s funny to me. I used to watch his interviews, him talking to people… he’s bold. He’s funny. We need people like him,” the hip-hop star added.
