Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence are preparing to unite their families in a special way. On Dec. 1, Eddie’s 35-year-old son, Eric Murphy, and Martin’s 28-year-old daughter, Jasmin Lawrence, shared the news of their engagement on Instagram.
In the video post, Eric revealed that he proposed to Jasmin on Nov. 27 with an unforgettable surprise. The proposal took place in a room filled with stunning rose bouquets, delicate petals, and soft, sensual candles. Against the backdrop of a heart-shaped cutout, Eric got down on one knee, and Jasmin, overcome with emotion, laughed and teared up in disbelief as he popped the question.
“It’s beautiful. Oh my gosh,” she said, before proudly telling Eric, “yes” and sharing a kiss with the voice actor.
In the caption of the sweet joint post, the soon-to-be husband and wife gushed about their big news, telling fans, “We’re engaged!! God truly blessed us with a love that feels like destiny.”
The couple added, “We couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter. Special thank you to everyone who made this moment so beautiful!!”
Fans and celebs sent the comments section up for the couple, congratulating them on their forthcoming wedding and engagement.

The details of when and where Eric and Jasmin’s relationship began remain unclear, but in a January 2022 interview with InTouch Weekly, Jasmin revealed that she and Eric were introduced through her uncle.
“It wasn’t even our dads, and they’ve done two movies together, they’re friends,” she explained. According to the aspiring actress, she and Eric “became really good friends because we bonded on a lot of things,” and “understood each other on a certain level” due to their dad’s both being in Hollywood. According to the 28-year-old beauty, her superstar father is supportive of her relationship with Eddie’s eldest son.
They debuted their relationship in June 2021.
Jasmin and Eric publicly debuted their relationship on June 24, 2021, when Eric shared a heartfelt photo carousel on Instagram. In the post, he expressed his love for Jasmin, with one of the images showing the couple cuddled up together, smiling affectionately at the camera.
“Head over heels in LOVE with YOU,” he wrote, adding the hashtags: “#MyOtherHalf,” “#EquallyYoked” and “#ILoveYou.”
Jasmin returned the love a few weeks later in a post shared July 10, 2021, wishing the Sabotage actor a happy birthday with sweet photos of them hugging and sharing a kiss.

In a June 2022 interview, Martin spoke candidly about the relationship between his daughter and Eric. He shared his thoughts on their connection and expressed his approval of the couple’s growing bond, joking that they could potentially welcome “a comedy super-baby” together.
“We haven’t talked about it,” Martin, 59, said of himself and Eddie, 63, in an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “We kind of just stay out of their business and let them do their own thing, and respect their thing.”
Hilariously when it comes down to wedding expenses, Martin quipped that he was going to “try to get Eddie to pay” for the ceremony.
Eddie later responded to Martin’s comment with a playful retort, telling Canadian outlet Etalk in 2023, “That’s not how it works.”
At the time, Eddie had just footed the bill for his daughter Bria’s wedding, noting that he “really had to pay” some serious cash for the ceremony.
“You have to do the same, Martin,” he playfully added. “Don’t try to switch it up — don’t try to change no sh—, do no Hollywood switch. You’re paying for the wedding. If it goes down, Martin is paying and the wedding better be wonderful!”
