At the fabulous age of 80-something, social media star Margret Chola exudes impeccable style. The fashionable grandmother from Zambia has captured the hearts of fans online, amassing over 220,000 followers on Instagram by showcasing her stunning outfits, which feature elegant gowns, chic pants, and bold accessories.
Known as the “Legendary Glamma,” Margret often gets styling assistance from her granddaughter, Diana Kaumba, who helped launch the “Granny Series” in 2023, according to BBC. The Instagram photo series allows Margret to flaunt her vibrant and playful fashion through striking photos, and according to her most recent interview with the outlet, she’s enjoying every moment of it.
“I feel different, I feel new and alive in these clothes, in a way that I’ve never felt before,” the chic grandma told BBC. “I feel like I can conquer the world!”
In a photo shared on Nov. 19, the fashionable grandmother showcased futuristic sunglasses, a flowing chiffon blouse, and stylish black-and-white striped pants. She completed the ensemble with a bold double-layered necklace, pearl earrings, and sleek black shoes, adding elegance to the sleek look.
The idea for the “Granny Series” came to Diana during a visit to her grandmother in Zambia, marking the second anniversary of her father’s passing. She credits her father as the inspiration behind her love for fashion, as he was always impeccably dressed. While there, Diana noticed that she hadn’t worn many of her carefully curated outfits, so she asked her granny Margret—affectionately known as “Mbuya” in the Bemba language—if she would like to try them on. Margret eagerly agreed.

“I wasn’t doing anything at the time, so I just said: ‘OK. If that’s what you want to do let’s do it – why not?'” Margret, who does not know her age because she does not have a birth certificate, said. “You will miss me when I die and at least this way you will be remembering me.”
For the debut photo of the series, Margret donned her granddaughter’s stunning silver jumpsuit and posed for photos in her village near Zambia’s capital, Lusaka. Typically, the beautiful elder is photographed in all her glamorous outfits outdoors, often perched on an elegant wooden chair, surrounded by her beautiful mango trees and maize crops.

The series gained widespread attention in April when Diana dressed Margret in a bold red Adidas dress, paired with a colorful jeweled crown, red sunglasses, chunky gold chains, and red stiletto heels paired with blue Adidas socks. Thanks to social media, Margret’s fashionable looks quickly spread across the globe and since then she’s received widespread recognition, including a feature in Glamour South Africa in October and Your Luxury Africa in August.
Diana reflected on the big moment in an Instagram post shared Aug. 7.
“Our Mbuya is Officially a COVER GIRL!!! A Dream of a 10 yr old Dee in Zimbabwe when I first saw a Magazine I said to my little self Wow! I wanna be on a Cover to one day,” she penned. “32 years later that Dream has finally come true but even better!!! I Put MY ANCESTOR on a COVER!!! Now if that’s not LEGENDARY!! Tell me what is! God I thank you cheers to more wins to come.”
We, love to see it Diana and Margret. Keep going with the Granny Series!
