Sex: Reddit Users Say They Would 'Never' Try These Positions

In August, Reddit users flocked to the social media platform to discuss the kinkiest sex positions and experiences they vowed “never” to try again. A surprising number of them reported that sex in the shower wasn’t as exciting as expected, with some even claiming it caused more harm than pleasure.

One user penned that they became “dizzy” after their partner bent them over in the shower for a long period of time, making them feel as thought they were going to “pass out.”

“I was kneeling and I still passed out LOL. Scared the sh*t out of them,” another user described of their scary shower sex experience. 

A third person claimed that they almost lost their vision and hearing during their steamy shower sex encounter. 

“Bro I have to do a slight squat for shower sex and between holding that position and thrusting, I need to sit down after. Sometimes my hearing and vision go in and out,” the netizen penned.

Shower sex can lead to injuries or vasovagal syncope.

Show sex can be risky for several reasons. The wet, soapy surfaces of a shower make them extremely slippery, increasing the risk of falls and injuries. Additionally, the hard surfaces of shower walls and floors can lead to bruises or more serious injuries if you slip or fall. The limited space in most showers makes it difficult to move comfortably and safely during sex, and the water temperature can be either too hot or too cold, causing discomfort or burns.

Moreover, the sudden changes in position or the heat of the shower can trigger vasovagal syncope, a condition where the part of your nervous system that regulates heart rate and blood pressure malfunctions in response to a trigger, such as heat exposure, according to Mayo Clinic. This leads to a slowing of your heart rate and dilation of blood vessels in your legs, causing blood to pool and reducing blood pressure. As a result, blood flow to your brain decreases, which can cause dizziness or fainting. Common triggers for vasovagal syncope include standing for long periods, heat exposure, seeing blood, having blood drawn, or fear of bodily injury. While precautions like using a non-slip mat and moving slowly can help, the inherent challenges often make shower sex less ideal.

One Reddit user recounted fracturing their ribs and hitting their head on a ceramic shelf—definitely not the “hurts so good” experience they had in mind.

Some users said they would never have sex outdoors again.

In addition to shower sex, several users shared that they would never again engage in sex outdoors, particularly in the woods or on the beach. One naysayer recounted becoming a prime target for “so many” mosquitoes during a forest rendezvous, while another described how sand on the beach caused irritation when it got into intimate areas. 

“It’s coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere,” the user penned.

Sand irritation is a real thing. Health experts say that it can contribute to various allergies, especially when in direct contact with bare skin. According to Very Well Health, sand often contains dust, pollen, and other airborne allergens that can irritate the respiratory system or trigger allergic reactions, particularly in those with existing sensitivities. The rough texture of sand can also cause skin irritation, especially for individuals with sensitive skin or conditions like eczema. Additionally, sand can harbor insects or their larvae, which may produce allergens or trigger allergic reactions.
