Natalie Portman Credits Rihanna With Helping Her Channel Her Inner ‘Bad B*tch” After Messy Split From Ex-Hubby
Natalie Portman revealed that Rihanna helped her feel confident again after a difficult time in her life. During Monday’s, July 15, episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the 43-year-old actress opened up about how the “Diamonds” singer helped to lift her up after she separated from her ex-husband Benjamin Millepied.
Portman, well known for her role in Black Swan, explained that the first time she met RiRi was during Paris Fashion Week back in January of this year.
Portman admitted that Rihanna said exactly what she needed to hear when they met during Fashion Week. She said, “I think everyone going through a divorce should get Rihanna to say to her that she’s a bad b—h. It was exactly what I needed.”
As previously reported by Radar Online, Portman and Millepied got married back in 2012 and the pair share two children together: a 12-year-old son, Aleph, and a 7-year-old daughter, Amalia.
However, not long after Portman and Millepied divorced in March. Although the separation was quiet, rumors surrounding it continued to circulate. The most prominent of the rumors alleged that the French choreographer had cheated on the actress with a much younger woman.
Portman recalled that the Barbadian Grammy winner called her “one of the hottest b—s in Hollywood,” which she could hardly believe.
She continued, “It was a formative moment in my life.”
Portman admires Rihanna and her music, and when they met she hugged her and let her know how much she adored her. Portman said in the clip of their interaction, “I’m gonna faint. I’m gonna black out. I love you and I listen to your music all the time…you’re just such a queen. Thank you.”
The words of encouragement from the Fenty Beauty CEO were much needed after Portman’s separation from Millepied.
According to Radar Online a friend of Portman’s described at the time of the split: “It was initially really tough for her, but her friends rallied around her and helped get her through the worst of it.
“Natalie is coming out of a really tough and painful year but she’s come out the other side of it stronger and is finding joy in her family, friends, and work.”
