Multiple powerhouses in music and entertainment join in to express why Jennifer Hudson and Tasha Cobbs deserve Urban One’s Entertainment Icon Honor.
Comedian Loni Love notes that while the Black female community has always had incredible singers like Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston, there was still the question: who would it be in the new millenium? Jennifer Hudson is part of the pantheon of Black female singers to carry the torch through this century. Singer-songwriter Bridget Kelly says Hudson will leave quite a legacy and blazes the trail for future Black female artists.
As for Tasha Cobbs, Pastor Beverly Crawford says she is “A powerful woman of God…her strength, her power, her love, and her endurance [make her a legacy].” Pastor Crawford says that Cobbs wants her music to heal and change people. DOE says that the Gospel industry will never be the same thanks to Cobbs.
