Some of us have had a significant other that we just couldn’t shake for some reason. We would break up, get back together and continue the cycle until we either get too tired and get off the merry-go-round or we would work it out for the better. Celebrities are no different, except we see their love woes on a larger screen.
Here are a few couples who can’t get enough of each other, even though they’ve broken up numerous of times. While some of them have pushed through (which may or may not be a good thing), others have finally called it quits….
Snoop Dogg & Shante
These two have been married for almost 15 years and the ride has been rocky, to say the least. On more than one occasion, there have been various rumors about Snoop’s philandering ways and a couple of times suspicious pictures have surfaced that make him look guilty. In 2004, Snoop filed for divorce but it never came to fruition and four years later, they renewed their vows. As it stands, they are still married; I guess they’re really sticking to that “for better or for worse” portion of the vows.
Gilbert Arenas & Laura Govan
It is quite possible that Laura and Gilbert’s “crazy” are perfect for each other. They’ve broken up quite a few times and it seems that whenever they’ve reconciled, Laura has ended up pregnant. Somewhere around 2006 when they were “off,” Laura was going to serve Gilbert with paternity suit papers and his lawyer told him to avoid being served in the state of California at all costs. With the help of his team and the owners of the team, he missed a nationally televised game because of “the flu” and for most games following that, he’d sneak into hotels under a different name to avoid being served. They eventually got back together but a few years later, when Laura was accused of being the reason Shaq & Shaunie broke up, he kicked her out the house and allegedly wasn’t providing for his children (they have four now). Last year, he even sued her in an attempt to block her role on “Basketball Wives LA” which proved to be a futile effort. Anyway, they’re back together and are planning a wedding.
Justin Timberlake & Jessica Biel
When it comes to Justin Timberlake’s love life, many have observed that he seems to get a “three year itch” after which he becomes bored with his significant other and breaks it off. He and Jessica Biel made it to almost four years when they first broke up in early 2011. The gossip magazines said his cheating – which they say wasn’t always a secret – led to the split because Jessica couldn’t take it anymore. But a few months later they were back together again and rumor has it that they got engaged over the Christmas holiday.
Robert De Niro & Grace Hightower
When you have almost 25 years together, I suspect that life hasn’t always been a crystal stair. While Robert and Grace met in 1987, they didn’t marry until 10 years later in 1997. By 1999, a year after the birth of their son, they decided to split. That split, along with a paternity case, played out in public but they never finalized their divorce. In 2004, they renewed their vows in front of family and close friends. I wonder if things got really nasty between them before they decided to call off divorce proceedings because in my mind, things might have been said that you could possibly be mad for life about.
Omar Epps & Keisha Spivey
Back when they were just teenagers, Omar and Keisha dated for a little while. It didn’t work out and Omar became quite the Hollywood actor and was with Sanaa Lathan for quite some time while Keisha went on to be part of the singing group, Total. Well, Omar and Sanaa broke up and as fate would have it a few years later, him and the “one who got away” Keisha would reconnect and in 2006, they were married. They are so cute together! Side Note: Do any of you follow Keisha on Twitter? If so, can you let me know why she only follows Omar? I find it to be a bit…strange, if you will.
Sean “Diddy” Combs & Kim Porter
Not many relationships have been more of a sad joke than this one. On and off since 1994, Kim started dating him when he was still with his ex-girlfriend and mother of his oldest biological son, Justin (Misa Hylton). Oh, Kim and Misa were friends at the time too (you already know what I’m thinking). Since then, it has been an up and down roller coaster for these two with him pushing her to the side when he’s wanted to make room for the likes of Jennifer Lopez, allegedly Cameron Diaz and of course, his other side chick Cassie. If you watch closely, Kim and Cassie even seem to split holidays to have their time with Diddy. He also has another daughter who is just a few months older than the twin girls he shares with Kim. I mean, just reading this would make me want to run for the hills from this man.
Sam & Ronnie
Nothing much to say about these “Jersey Shore” lovers who never need to be together (as of October, they were broken up again). I just wanted to make you all laugh…
Shaquille & Shaunie O’Neal
Although I know how it ended, I almost forgot that Shaq & Shaunie had a break up and reconciliation period too. After five years married, Shaq filed for divorce in 2007, a move that Shaunie said she didn’t see coming and learned about the same time her children did. Almost a year later, however, Shaunie said they were calling off the divorce because things were going great between them. Welp, we know what eventually happened. In 2009, Shaunie filed for divorce and it was finalized in 2010. Shaq has admitted to cheating, citing all the temptation as one of his main reasons.
