Whew chile. The drama just continues. And as you all know, it all centers around just one person. If you thought Chris’ mess was going to stay just between him and Paige, you were wrong. It’s spewed out into the rest of the married couples and it ain’t nothing nice. Everyone had something going on last night. So let’s dive in.

Jacob

We spent the first couple of weeks wondering if Jake was going to be too socially awkward to communicate with Haley. But last night we saw his maturity really come out. Haley has been pulling back from him and I felt he did a great job expressing how he felt immediately, instead of letting things fester. He told sis that she was difficult to read and he was tired of having to be the only one to initiate physical affection.

Jake had me weak during all the drama with Chris, Erik and Virginia. He said he doesn’t know about Chris’ character but he was hungry and ready to eat.

Haley

Haley has been trying to tell us since the very beginning how much she loves being by herself and how it’s going to be such an adjustment for her to be married. And I heard her but I didn’t think she would miss the mark this much. Like Jake said she is hard to read. In the confessional she’s saying that she’s starting to like him. But she told Jake, something was missing. She said their conversations aren’t going deeper–which given Jake’s preferred conversations, I get it. I was surprised to hear that she and Jake had sex–but interestingly enough that might have been right around the time her attraction began waning.

Honestly, I’m wondering if she pulled a Chris, having sex for a release when you’re not really attracted to the person and then regretting it later.

Haley said something that was a bit troubling in that she felt Jake wanted her to come in and think we’re in this forever. Uhh yeah, sis. It’s a marriage. She said that’s not who she is. But then again, that makes you wonder why, knowing this about herself, would she sign up for the show?!

Then to add insult to injury, Haley lied to Jake about leaving to be with the girls. Then he saw her hanging out with the other couples solo dolo. A mess.

She’s going to have to do better.

Erik

Whew! Erik is going to watch these episodes back and realize just how sloshed he was. Homeboy was slurring, couldn’t finish his sentences and probably just a bit too loose-lipped.

I peeped that Erik is still trying to compete with the other couples and lied about the two of them having had no conflict and their marriage being perfect. Umm…not quite.

I know there are some who will beg to differ but I don’t think his conversation with Chris was inappropriate at all in the earlier stages. He told him he needed to man up. And as Virginia told Chris later, that includes way more than the bare minimum of simply telling Paige that he has a child on the way.

The only issue I have with Erik is that his defense of Virginia came just a little too late. He should have told Chris, in the moment while they were out with the ATVs that he was doing entirely too much and he could not speak to his wife that way. When he tried to broach this conversation at the dinner table, when Chris was already in the midst of apologizing, the timing was off. And furthermore, Chris is too immature to have handled that situation with any maturity.

Virginia

Unlike her husband, Virginia is willing to be honest about the differences she’s noticed between herself and her husband. His conservative ideals don’t align with her liberal beliefs. The guy friend conversation may present a problem in the future. And while Erik is having too good of a time right now, God only knows how he’ll react when he’s sober and watching Virginia drink Thursday til Sunday.

People keep wondering about Virginia’s maturity but sis kept it all the way real speaking to Chris. She tried to keep things cordial at first. But Chris doesn’t know how to have those conversations. So every time Chris tried to turn up, Virginia matched his energy. While Chris tried to call her fake, I do believe she is genuinely concerned about Paige and her well-being. She noticed a change in her demeanor and that’s a scary and sad thing to witness. When you boil it all down, she told Chris to make sure he takes care of her and he took offense to that. What Chris doesn’t like is the fact that Paige is the one receiving all of the sympathy–AS SHE SHOULD.

Ryan

Chile…I still don’t know about Ryan. I think he and Clara are getting along well enough for now. But I’m very interested in the way he handles conflict. I like that he was there and supportive of Clara when she got upset with Chris but it’s interesting that he essentially told Clara to control what comes out of her mouth but didn’t have any smoke for Chris when he was popping off during the day and in the van. I get it, sometimes you need to mind your business but Clara is concerned that he may be trying to control her and I can see why she said it.

Also, the fact that Ryan has been in long term relationships and has never said I love you is starting to make me feel some kind of way. It’s interesting to me that someone like him would want the first person he falls in love with to be someone experts matched him with. Keeping my eye on him.

Clara

Ryan didn’t want to discuss it but Clara did share that while they aren’t speaking about their sex life, she and Ryan do have a physical relationship. And she said it’s been good. Well, that’s good to hear. Like Virginia, I think Clara is also genuinely concerned for Paige. And it’s nice to see those two stand up for her after only knowing her for just a few weeks.

She told Chris that if she were in Paige’s position she would be out–and I wish Paige would do the same.

I worry about how Clara and Ryan are going to gel and vibe when they’re both in a less fun, more structured environment. Ryan is already so serious and buttoned up in Las Vegas. I just hope that if things get wild and she finds Ryan really is more controlling that she advocates for herself in the way she advocated for Paige.

Vincent

Vincent is starting to see what Briana’s family meant when they repeatedly told him that she was bossy. She is. But to be fair, sis is an engineer. She’s used to making decisions. She’s used to having things done her way. And she is newly married. These are things a lot of women struggle with in relationships and can be addressed. I think Vincent and Briana are mature enough and smart enough to have the tough conversations off camera and be honest with one another. They recover well. And I love to see it.

The only bone I have to pick with Vince is that he was too quick to jump to Chris’ defense at dinner. Yes, Chris was apologizing when Erik and Virginia walked in. But Vincent wasn’t around when Chris showed his whole a$$. Had he been, he might have understood a bit better. Cuz there’s no way I can see him standing idly by as Chris spoke to Briana the way he spoke to Virginia and Clara.

Chris

What can we say about this one that we haven’t already discussed? Chris is basically a menace. That’s just it.

What was interesting about his moments with Paige is that he doesn’t believe in joint accounts. He wants things to be split 50-50. For most people, I wouldn’t consider this a red flag. But for as much money as Chris speaks about having and as much as he tried to say he was making more than Paige, it’s giving you not who you say you are…just like in all these other areas of his life.

As far as his conversations with the other women and his behavior in the van–I cannot understand why Chris intentionally set out to make everyone’s life a living hell?!

The only time I agreed with him in this episode, is when he said that he has not been a man of God. Facts! And immediately after he said that, he showed just how true that was.

The most heinous part of Chris’ actions is that he often hides behind God. He told the table that Paige prayed for him and that was supposed to be some big deal. Of course she prayed for you. The question is, what have you done for her since you dropped the baby bomb? Nothing. Sadly, anything about God and spirituality Paige falls for hook, line, and sinker.

And the cherry on the top was him telling Paige outright that he’s still in love with his ex. I don’t know what else she needs to see.

Paige

In the confessionals, I always have hope for Paige. Yes, she’s getting it. She’s seeing the bullsh*t. She’s on her way out. But it has yet to pan out that way. I pepped how she noticed that Chris wasn’t willing to help with her dog while she’s ready to be a whole stepmom. She also told the cameras that Chris dragged an innocent person into his mess. Two people actually. Paige and his baby on the way. Paige puts too much stock in Chris’ words and not enough into his consistently poor actions. Only time will tell what will be the straw that finally breaks the camel’s back–if there is one at all.
