Briana and Vincent

There’s not a ton of information we learn watching the couples get married. You know people tend to act right when they’re dressed up, there’s liquor flowing and family and friends are around. It’s not until they come back from the honeymoon—or before—that things get real. Still, there are some couples who seem to have that little something extra from right off the bat.

Last season, it was Woody and Amani and Amelia and Bennett. And for this season the ones to watch are Briana and Vincent. Obviously anything can happen but I caught myself grinning hard at the screen watching them touch and flirt with one another with middle-school like sweetness.

I’m here for them.

But there were some other folks to analyze as well.

Let’s get into what we saw and what issues just might arise for the couples embarking on this journey.

Clara

I was initially concerned when Clara was complaining about her hair, makeup, hem of her dress etc., that her attitude might not be best suited for this process. Honestly, her energy kind of reminded me of a more toned down Christina. But perhaps it was just pre-wedding jitters. She seemed to simmer down once she actually saw Ryan’s face. Being that she wanted a man who was racially ambiguous, it was no surprise that she found him attractive. It was particularly insightful that Clara shared she was afraid of falling in love with Ry and not being loved back.

It is a good sign that they have the same taste in music and attended the same concert together.

Ryan

I still can’t put my finger on Ryan. He seems chill. And I do appreciate his thoughtfulness. His vows –actually both he and Clarar’s vows were absolutely beautiful. She might be a lot for him but it could also work out. One never knows.

Erik

Erik is the older, more seasoned groom this season–with the experience of having been previously married. Thankfully though, his family is supportive of him in the process and offered him some pretty sound advice about not giving up early. During the wedding ceremony, I liked the way he kept trying to calm Virginia’s nerves. He’s definitely way more serious than she is– and much more of a homebody. Still, from the way they interacted on the wedding day, his remarks about her smile etc., I have a feeling Virginia will bring out his more playful side.

Virginia

I was happy to see Virginia’s dad showed up and was in good spirits on the day of her wedding. Right now, Virginia strikes me as someone who just wants to have a good time, all the time. But she did say that in the past, she’s made a habit of leaving men before they have the chance to leave her. Who knows what will happen between she and Erik but they’re starting off with decent footing.  I thought she might be alarmed by their nearly ten-year age difference. But she was cool. It’s also great that they both find one another attractive.

Vincent

I like Vincent. Time will tell if he’s really ready to be a husband but in the meantime, I get really good vibes from him. He just seems sincere. It was interesting to hear him say he has a fear of not being accepted by his wife. If he keeps on like he is, I think he’ll be just fine. I also loved that he said he has plans to protect her physically and emotionally. Love to see it.

Briana

First and foremost, can we talk about Briana’s dress? She was certainly best dressed of this season. It was structured, timeless, with a high slit that gave it a little sex appeal. And then it had the nerve to have pockets?! Perfection.

Other than the fashion, I loved watching Briana’s friends and family during the wedding ceremony and reception. You can tell they were genuinely happy for her. Beautiful. It’s also a good sign that her mother was such at ease during this whole process.

I like that in her vows, Briana said we may be crazy for doing this but we’re crazy together. Yes ma’am.

These two are absolutely beautiful together and I know I’m already invested.

Paige

Chile I’m just really worried for Paige. I know God is good and He be working in mysterious ways. But I’m just too cautious and too skeptical to call a man I’ve never met, the answer to my prayers. I would never sign up for this show; but if I ever found myself in Paige’s shoes, I’d want to wait and see what the end was going to be before attaching so much onto this one man.

Chris

I told y’all last week that Chris worries me. I don’t know if producers set out to pick a bit of a troublemaker each season but if they do, there’s no question that Chris is thee one. For as much as he talks about God, he still seems very immature. Looks are extremely important to him. And that’s fine. But I don’t know why a person who placed physical attraction so high would agree to marry a stranger he’s never seen and leave all of that up to chance. From the teaser of the next episode, they may be trying to insinuate that Chris won’t find Paige attractive. But I don’t think– and I sincerely hope that this is not the case. We’ll see what happens with these two.
