I’m so glad the next week is decision day for the “Married At First Sight” couples. We’ve been on this ride long enough. And after nearly four months of marriage–as opposed to the typical two–I’m dying to know what decision these couples are going to make. While I think we know what to expect from Woody and Amani and Amelia and Bennett– and the fate for Brett and Olivia has already been determined, there’s not telling what will happen with Karen and Miles. We know, without a shadow of a doubt that Henry is out of here and has been gone for some time, there’s really no telling what type of drama will ensue when he finally expresses all the emotions he’s been holding inside for so long.

Some very interesting things happened on the night before decision day, so let’s get into it, shall we?

Karen and Miles

There’s no telling what will happen with these two. Watching them interact with one another on this last episode, it seems like they’re not entirely sure either. Karen doesn’t know if she can trust Miles to be honest. Miles doesn’t know if he can trust that Karen will eventually be able to meet his needs. But the two don’t hate each other. On the show, there are glimmers of hope. And from our interview, yesterday, it seems that Karen may be more invested than we’ve seen. Still, if they decide to stay together, they would be doing so on a wing and a prayer. Because in the span of four months, their foundation is not all that solid.

The Friends

Both Karen and Miles’ friends are insightful. Miles’ friend just listened to him intently, letting him vent and explain how he really feels about the situation–not casting too much judgment. (Which I love.) Meanwhile, Karen’s friends had a lot more input. And honestly, I thought they were spot on. They recognized that Karen needed someone who was a bit more dominate and domineering than Miles. The group kept talking about her needing to be put in her place. Personally, that was a trigger for me but to each her own.

More interestingly though, Karen’s friends said that they were sure she was giving all that she could. They just didn’t know if it would be enough for Miles.

The Needs

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. For a much crap as Karen gets online, there is no question that Miles was so ready to be liked that he didn’t always do the best job of expressing himself and his needs. And while it might have been too little, too late, I was happy to see him take the opportunity, before she left, to tell Karen that he wanted someone who would be proud to call him her husband. He said he wanted his home to be one that was safe and peaceful. Really, it’s not too much to ask.

The Emotions

Woody and Miles seem like two different types of dudes. But in reality, they’re both very emotional. And on his last night with Amani, during their romantic dinner, Woody got overcome with emotion. He shared that before her, he wasn’t entirely sure he knew how to be married–or how to be a husband. And living with her, he finally figured it out. It was a sweet declaration. And there’s no question what these two are going to do on decision day–despite that fake out they tried to give us with the trailer for next week.

Brett and his Friend

Brett hasn’t learned anything

I really wish Olivia was the type of person to really hand Brett his a$$. Because homeboy could really stand the lesson. To say you learned nothing after spending four months with someone you didn’t know before is ridiculous and not something he should be bragging about. If Brett were open to this experience, in the slightest way, he would have learned something, even if he and Olivia ultimately didn’t work out as a couple.

Instead, he went on the show to perform for the cameras and attempt to “be right” about almost nothing. His own friend was hoping that he would leave this experience as a better man. And unfortunately, that just didn’t happen.

Amelia and Bennett

Cucumber Dream

People thought Amelia’s cucumber dream was really weird. But how a person’s brain works in life is likely how it will work when they’re asleep. And Amelia’s brain is not conventional. Still, the idea of accidentally slicing up Bennett and eating him seems pretty obvious to me. He’s adjusting his whole life for her. He’s moving to an entirely new state. His work is on hold. And things are going to change quite a bit with her being a resident. And she doesn’t want Bennett to get hurt in the process. She doesn’t want her life and her needs to eclipse his own. I think that’s a good sign that she cares.

Amelia wanted to be on a reality show

This was a shocker. From the onset, Amelia and Bennett have been the perfect match for one another. So it was jarring to hear that Amelia did not go into this process with the desire to actually be married–she went in trying to be on tv, being followed around like a princess every day.

You can imagine that might be a little hurtful to someone like Bennett who genuinely went into this experience to find love. And given the way, Amelia reacted to Bennett not including her in the letter to his younger self, I’m surprised she didn’t see how those words might have hurt him.

Despite her admission, I do think Amelia has fallen in love with Bennett. I don’t think she’s faking that. So this won’t be something that causes him to walk away from her on decision day.

Henry and Christina

Why are Henry and Christina still pretending?

Chile these two must be on the show for a check at this point. Because it’s clear that it’s a wrap. It’s been over. And before last night, I thought both of them understood that…clearly. But every few days, Christina gets the idea that there’s something she can say or do that will get Henry to see her as a viable partner. And last night was a very alarming example of that.

I act a fool

During their dinner, Christina attempted to broach the accusations she made about Henry’s sexuality–simply saying, ‘I act a fool.’ Umm…That’s not enough. It’s not an acknowledgement of what you did. It’s not an apology and it offers absolutely no assurance that things will be different in the future–not that Henry is staying around to find out.

She brushed off that huge indiscretion as a quirk. That’s not the reality of what we’re dealing with here.

The Tears

I try to be really sensitive to people’s tears. But lawd, the way Christina burst out crying over Henry digging in the depths of his soul to find a compliment for her, really sent me. Either sis is a whole actress or she really, really needs to see someone. And based on what we’ve seen from Christina these past few months, it’s likely a combination of both.

Tell Her!

For as much as Christina is just not that great of a person, Henry has to hold some responsibility in the trajectory of their relationship. He’s told everyone else exactly how he feels about Christina while she’s under the impression that there’s hope for the two of them and that their dinner last night catapulted them into a new dimension. Bruh. Tell her what it is!

Instead, what’s going to happen is Christina is going to say yes on decision day and Henry, emboldened by the experts, is going to be embarrass the hell out of her. I get it. There’s not much that would suggest that Christina should be spared. But waiting to deliver this type of blow seems particularly cruel.
