There were so many memorable moments and conversations that took place during last night’s epic (and extremely long) Verzuz between Brandy and Monica. One that you might have missed if you decided to take a break or refill your drink, was Monica saying that a certain famous friend, “Caresha,” as in Yung Miami or Caresha Brownlee of the City Girls, requested the deep cut song “Sideline Ho” for her to play. While Monica was trying to tell her story, Brandy asked who Caresha was, to which Monica responded, “My girl from the City Girls.”
Brandy didn’t seem to mean anything by her question, apologizing when she realized who her contemporary was speaking of. It looked as though she genuinely wasn’t aware of the star’s government name, though she did know who the City Girls were. But that didn’t stop Yung Miami from responding to say, “I only know 2 Brandy songs so we even.”
She would go on to delete the tweet, but people had already taken a screenshot of her comment:
When people started to confront the “Act Up” rapper about the tweet, she said she was just kidding around.
When asked why she deleted the post then, she said it’s because people take things too seriously.
Whether she was just trying to be funny or she meant to throw a little shade Brandy’s way, Yung Miami should feel pretty lucky, because she was mentioned in a record-breaking Verzuz. According to Entertainment Weekly, this match-up peaked with 1.2 million people watching the Live, with some of those people including big names like Michelle Obama and Kamala Harris, who did a virtual chat with the ladies. They spoke to the vice presidential candidate, using their platform full of more than a million fans to send the message that people need to get out and vote this November.
Most music lovers just appreciative of the fact they were getting to hear the deep catalogues of two icons in R&B appreciated what both artists brought to the table, even if they had a favorite. Yung Miami is included in that.
Still, people had thoughts about Yung Miami’s tweet and they didn’t hold back on those opinions. Hit the flip to see what they had to say:

“Caresha tweeted she only knows two songs by Brandy. So, they’re even. No y’all not,” said a commenter. “someone tweeted. ‘You know her and her two songs. She doesn’t know you at all. Brandys comment wasn’t that deep. I think she genuinely didn’t know who she was. It’s not like she was trying to be shady.”

“lmfao not brandy said who is caresha? and yung miami tweeted and said i only know 2 brandy songs and deleted it. nah keep it up there caresha, trynna b funny,” said a commenter who was not pleased with Yung Miami’s tweet. “the girl prolly genuinely don’t know yo a–.”
“I also don’t think Brandy was being shady with the Caresha comment, when I first listened to citygirls I didn’t know that was her real name,” said another Twitter user. We can definitely relate. When the City Girls first became popular, this writer (as in me) was confused when people would refer to Yung Miami as Caresha.
A commenter who pointed out that Brandy has created quite the legacy for herself responded to the tweet drama by saying, “Caresha came at brandy cause she ain’t know her by her government name… girl I hope “city girls” has the longevity that miss Brandy has & that’s all ima say on that.”
Commenter “Orange Soda Shorty (which is a hilarious name by the way), said if Yung Miami was actually offended by Brandy not knowing her government name, she needed to “get a grip.”
“Not Caresha getting mad because Brandy doesn’t know her by her government name,” she tweeted. “Get a grip, girl”

A Twitter user pointed out that the fact that Monica knew who Caresha was while Brandy didn’t showed the difference in their personalities. That and the fact that Bran wasn’t comfortable saying “ho.”
“Monica shouting out Caresha and Brandy not knowing who she is tells so much about both their personalities.”
Another commenter said that perhaps Brandy didn’t know Yung Miami’s government name because she’s not about that life, aka, she is from the suburbs. For the record, she was originally born and raised in Mississippi before her family moved to Los Angeles.
“Caresha keep it cute miss mamas,” they tweeted. “How Brandy supposed to know your government when she a suburban gril. [sic]”
This Twitter user pointed out the fact that Brandy knew who the City Girls were, so it shouldn’t have been a big deal to not know their names individually, let alone their government names.
“brandy not knowing who caresha is was NOT that serious, once monica said city girls she said oh right what’s there to be offended by?” the commenter asked. “she prolly just didn’t know her real name.”
This Twitter user was particularly annoyed by the chatter caused by the confusion over Caresha moment.
“Brandy wasn’t being shady when she was said, ‘Who is Caresha!?’!! She just didn’t recognize her by her government name!” the user wrote. “Nobody addresses Yung Miami by Caresha BUT the people who know her personally! And clearly Monica does!! So stop!”
But no one was more passionate than this Twitter user, who dropped a few expletives in response to Yung Miami.
“Caresha needs to f–king relax!” they wrote. “Brandy kinda old school she wasn’t trying to disrespect. Most older legends, icons &divas arent mixy so they dont know who’s who like that. Plus you go by Yung Miami of the City Girls. So the f–k what Brandy said ‘who’ to the mention of ur real name.”
