When you’re pregnant, it doesn’t really hit you until you start to develop a baby bump. Within a couple of months, your tummy goes from flat to full to full-blown belly…so that means that you have to temporarily say goodbye to the wardrobe you know and love.

In the beginning, you look like you had seconds or thirds at Thanksgiving dinner, so play it off by wearing your baggy jeans, stretchy pants, loose shirts and dresses that don’t hug your waist. Easy. But as time goes on, you’ll need to buy *gasp* actual maternity fashion.

In general, your maternity style will mirror your regular style: if you’re a conservative dresser, you’ll usually continue to dress that way. Those with a funkier style, can find maternity wear that reflects that as well. In some cases, the belly is liberating for moms-to-be and mama will feel like showing off a little and wearing clothes that accentuate your belly.

Which ever your style, here are some celebrity moms and the maternity style they rocked while expecting. So if you’re expecting, here are some totally wearable maternity outfits.

Nicole Richie

Pregnancy seems to agree with Nicole Richie. Mom to daughter, Harlow, 2, and son, Sparrow, 10 months, she’s relaxed and confident in this all-white floor length dress which gently hugs her belly. The black shades and bag give the look polish.

We didn’t see much of Keyshia Cole when she was pregnant, but during one of her first “belly” appearances at a holiday charity event, Keyshia, now mom to four-month-old Daniel Hiram Gibson Jr, showed up in a whimsical tutu styled skirt and made it more casual with a cropped jean jacket. For the real world, you could easily keep the jacket and substitute a printed cotton skirt or long maxi skirt.

Paula Patton was doing press for the movie Precious while pregnant, so we saw her in gowns and cute evening dresses while her baby bump grew and grew. She looked amazing. Here, she played up her legs with a little black dress and sky-high black peep-toe heels. She and hubby Robin Thicke had Julian just three months ago.

If there’s anything that the Kardashian sister are known for, it’s fashion and style. So Kourtney Kardashian definitely had to come correct when it came time for her to rock her pregnancy style. Consistent with her regular style, Kourtney, mom to Mason, seven months, wore body-hugging dresses, bold color, and heels. Here in one of her more casual looks, she still looks stylish.
