Summer may be “cancelled” due to COVID-19, but the season is still upon us and Monday’s Memorial Day holiday marks its unofficial start. Your Memorial Day weekend may look a bit different than you initially planned pre-coronavirus, but quarantine doesn’t have to ruin your plans for good food and strong drinks — which is really all any of us were going to engage in anyway.
To mark the unofficial start of summer this year, Smirnoff just released its newest addition to its Red, White & Berry collection: Smirnoff Seltzer Red, White & Berry (which, depending on where you live, you can have delivered to you). The carbonated cocktail features the same cherry, citrus and blue raspberry flavor as the other Smirnoff Vodka offerings in the category, but without the sugar, making it a justifiable 90-calorie addition to your weekend menu.
Speaking of food, Smirnoff was kind enough to send over a few food pairings that perfectly complement their Red, White & Berry selections. So whether you’re going for traditional Memorial Day Weekend eats, a healthier version of your favorites, or a light summer snack, these pairings will hit the spot. Smirnoff Red, Blanco & Berry and Shrimp Tacos
Cocktail
Ingredients:
- .5 oz. Smirnoff Red, White & Berry Spirit
- .5 oz. Blanco Tequila
- 0.5 oz. Lime Juice
- 0.5 oz. Agave Syrup
- 5 oz Club Soda
- Cherry and Tajin Rim for Garnish
- Square Ice Cubes
Instructions:
-
- Pour tajin on a flat plate
- Wet the rim of the glass with lime juice, and tap it onto the tajin
- Add ice, lime juice, agave syrup, and blanco tequila and Smirnoff Red, White & Berry into a Pour mix into a glass filled with ice
- Top off with club soda and garnish with a cherry
Food
Ingredients:
Shrimp
- 1 pound, peeled and deveined
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 2 fresh limes
- 2 cups shredded green cabbage or store bought slaw
- 1 large avocado
- Corn (or flour) tortillas
Cilantro Lime Sauce
- 1 lime juiced and zested
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1/2 of a large bunch of cilantro
- 1/2 jalapeno
- 1/2 cup regular mayo
- 1/2 cup sour cream
Instructions:
- Dry the shrimps and add the salt, chili powder, onion powder, garlic, and olive oil and mix it. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- In a blender add the lime juice and zest, cilantro, garlic, mayo, and jalapeños (you can add more if you want it spicer). Add salt and pepper to taste. Blend till smooth. Add in the sour cream.
- Add 4 tablespoon of the sauce sauce to the shredded cabbage
- Cook the shrimp on a pan till they’re pink
- Assemble by heating up the tortilla on a pan, add shrimp, then top with slaw, avocado, more sauce and lime

Smirnoff Berry Americana and Hot Dogs
Cocktails
Ingredients:
- 1 oz. Smirnoff Red, White & Berry Spirit
- 5 oz. *NEW* Smirnoff Seltzer Red, White & Berry
- Cherries, raspberries and blueberries for garnish
- Square ice cubes
Instructions:
- Pour Smirnoff Red, White & Berry into a highball glass filled with ice
- Top off with Smirnoff Seltzer Red, White & Berry
- Garnish with cherries, raspberries and blueberries
Food
Ingredients:
Hot dog
- 1 Hot dog
- 1 Top cut hot dog bun
- An egg
- A slice of bacon, crispy and cut into pieces
- 3 tablespoon shredded hash brown
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon garlic aioli
Garlic aioli
- 1/2 cup of mayo
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
Instructions:
- Grill the hot dog
- Butter the hot dog buns and put it on a pan until both sides are golden brown
- Put oil on pan and fry the egg till desired temperature (sunny side up, medium, etc)
- Pan fry the hash brown for about 10 mins until golden brown
- Cook the bacon in the pan till crispy
- Assemble the hot dog by putting the hot dog in the bun, top with hash brown, bacon and egg. Spread the garlic aioli on top
- To make the garlic aioli, add mayo, garlic, lemon juice, salt and pepper together, mix it all together
(Hot dog can be substituted for veggie hot dog & veggie bacon).

Smirnoff Berry Firecracker and Popsicle
Cocktail and Food
Ingredients:
- 1 oz. Smirnoff Red, White & Berry Spirit
- 4 raspberries or blueberries
- 0.5 oz. Honey Syrup
- 0.5 oz. Lemon Juice
- Square ice cubes
- Popsicle of Choice
Instructions:
- Muddle raspberries and honey in a cocktail shaker
- Add ice, lemon juice and Smirnoff Red, White & Berry
- Shake well and pour mix into a glass filled with ice
- Top off with Smirnoff Seltzer Red, White & Berry
- Add Popsicle to Glass
