Cleanse & Condition

It’s hard to have healthy hair without a clean scalp. Over time, product build-up can prevent moisture from penetrating the hair shaft, causing dry and brittle hair. For this reason, the first product included in the Hydration Package is the Royal Roots Shampoo, which is a sulfate-free cleansing agent derived from all-natural ingredients.

To follow up, the package offers the Royal Roots Conditioner, enriched with shea butter and natural oils designed to add moisture back into stands after a wash. For optimum results, Hoskins recommends rinsing the conditioner out with cold water as it helps to seal the oils into strands.

Nourish & Repair

Once the scalp and hair are clean, the next step is to nourish strands using the Royal Roots Deep Conditioner. For optimal results, Hoskins recommends sitting under the dryer for 25 minutes.

“The slip on the Royal Roots Deep Conditioner is insane. I have really thick and coily hair and I can put that conditioner on my hair and the comb will go straight through it. It helps to prevent breakage. It’s a penetrating conditioner. It penetrates the hair shaft and helps to repair the parts that have been broken by wet styling and heat styling. A lot of deep conditioners will sit on top of your hair and it makes your hair look shiny, but your hair is not moisturized, just shiny.”

Detangle & Protect

Cleansing and conditioning hair is only half of the battle when it comes to length retention. Detangling and styling will cause setback after setback if they are not handled with care. To answer this problem, Hoskins designed the Glory Leave-In Conditioner and Detangling Spray, which is infused with aloe vera water and the Meshi Heat Protectant.

“I created this brand to really cater to our hair. There are a lot of products on the market that aren’t made by people who look like us. They’re monopolizing off of our hair right now. Arcani Coil Care products are being handcrafted,” said Hoskins. “They’re made by Black women. They’re packaged by Black women. They’re shipped by Black women. There is no Chinese connect. On Instagram, there are a lot of wholesalers. That’s not the case with my brand.”

Moisturize & Seal

One of the greatest barriers to length retention is lack of hydration. “If you moisturize it, it will grow,” says Hoskins.
