Kimbella James, formerly known as Vanderhee, recently appeared on The Breakfast Club to show support to her husband Juelz Santana, as she and Santana’s brother/manager Jermaine “Twin” James helped to release his latest album, #FreeSantana. During the conversation, they talked about his imprisonment and past drug addiction, as well as Love and Hip Hop drama with co-stars Yandy Smith and Chrissy Lampkin. The latter subject ended up taking up most of the 22-minute interview, with Kimbella venting about how she feels the crux of her drama with Yandy has to do with the fact that she says her former BFF said she “deserved” the beating she received from Chrissy Lampkin in Season 2. She said once Yandy found out that she and Chrissy had buried their drama, she turned on her.

“That’s the issue that I have. That fight happened and I don’t know why we’re still talking about it 10 years later,” she said. “At the end of the day, me and Chrissy decided to sit down…she ended up apologizing, we put everything on the table and we decided to move on as two grown women. Now fast forward, [Yandy] decided to continue to be mad about that situation for I don’t know why. Why are you now still talking about this issue that was 10 years ago that we decided to move forward from? I don’t know what the f–k she’s mad at.”

There was a scene during Season 10 where, following Kimbella running back to Chrissy to tell her that Yandy, Jonathan Fernandez and Cyn Santana (but Yandy specifically) were making light of her house foreclosure situation, Yandy talked about Chrissy and Kimbella’s fight. She talked in exaggerated tones about how bad the fight was for Kimbella, noting that she ended up with her vagina exposed when she was being dragged around on the floor. Kimbella says there’s no going back from that, especially since Yandy didn’t feel the need to apologize.

“Instead of her doing that, she decided to say, ‘Well since you called me a fake b—h, I decided that you deserved that.’ Once those words came out of her mouth it was all bets off for me,” she said, alluding to her decision to throw a drink at Yandy at a later event. “That could have never been my sister or my friend. Obviously you’ve been thinking of this this way for 10 years or however long its been.”

As for throwing a drink on Yandy at a later gathering put together by Jonathan, Kimbella said she had no regrets.

“At that point there’s no talking no more. What do you mean I deserved it? Nobody deserves no s–t like that, period point blank. It don’t matter,” she said. “So not for nothing, I had to deal with that. It was embarrassing for me. Chrissy told me it was embarrassing for her, so we’re just trying to move forward and past it but she wants to stay there and we’re not trying to stay there.”

As for rumors that she made nice with Chrissy to spite Yandy, and that they had something of an alliance going on, Kimbella denies that.

“That would never be the fact. I do not care about anything but positivity in my life right now,” she said. “I have four kids right now, I have a husband who is incarcerated, I need to get these projects out…I don’t get a f–k about none of that drama. I’m good off Yandy, I’m dead off that situation. I’m so far above and beyond that.”

But as she previously mentioned, Kimbella doesn’t consider Chrissy her friend.

“I don’t have any friends at this point,” she said. “Me and Chrissy are cool. We have respect for each other and we’ve moved forward, and that’s it.” As for Yandy, when asked how she might act if and when they encounter each other again, she said, “It’s whatever she wanna do.”

However, she says Yandy should be grateful that she is still a loyal person, because she claims to know some things that could expose her.

“For real, I’m trying to still keep my composure, because again, we were friends for a very long time, and I’m still loyal to this day and that’s all I’m a say,” she said. “We know everything about each other. I’m VERY loyal to this day, drink thrown or not.”

As for her husband, she says that he should be back home in the summer after going into prison a year ago for a weapons charge.

“This summer. We’re waiting for a date, but the paperwork has been submitted and I’m super excited to hear from him to hear about that date and just put it in my calendar and have an official day,” she said.

One of the things they talked about when discussing Juelz was his past struggle with drug addiction, which was shared during past appearances on LHHNY.

“He wanted to show the world what he had on the table, on his plate at the time,” she said. “Not for nothing, that had a lot to do with the reason he wasn’t releasing a lot of the music as well. He was battling that, and him being incarcerated the first time was for 30 days. He had to go through withdrawals in jail, and that right there, even me visiting him there, he would tell me, ‘If I wasn’t here right now, there would be a funeral. There would be no new music or me coming home or anything. There would be nothing. It would be me in the ground.’ When he told me that, I knew he finally realized what was happening.”

As for their relationship, she and Juelz have been together for 10 years and she said whether or not he proposed to her, she planned to stay with him.

“I knew eventually it would happen, regardless,” she said. “I’m his ride or die and I was going to be there whether we were going to be married or not. That’s who I decided to be with. To me, he’s the man of my dreams. Good or bad.”

As for the #FreeSantana album, Kimbella tried her best to explain why there had been so many years without Juelz Santana music, even when he wasn’t locked up.

“He’s a perfectionist and I would rather him be here to answer that question,” she said. “But being his wife, knowing him very well, he knew his music was great but he always, always said ‘It has to be at the perfect time for me to release this music’ because he valued it so much. So at this point, for me looking in, this is the perfect time. You’re not here, people have been asking for your music for so long, let’s give them what they’ve been waiting for.”

The songs on the #FreeSantana album aren’t old, being recorded about a year ago.

“He was still creating music up until the day that he left,” she said. “We were able to keep the hard drive and create.”

They have three projects on the way, with the album, out now, being the first.
