Celebrity relationships often get put on a pedestal, but because of the nature of their careers, their connections are often more fragile than the ones us normal folks have. Songstress Mary J. Blige and her ex Kendu Isaacs divorced in 2018 after 12 years of marriage. Even though Mary filed for divorce claiming “irreconcilable differences,” the split happened amid rumors of infidelity. Kendu was reportedly linked to many women, including his protege, Starchelle. After their separation, the two battled it out in court, with Isaacs wanting an absurd amount of spousal support from Mary’s estate. Isaacs requested $129,000 a month and the court settled on $30,000 a month.

Niecy Nash & Jay Tucker

Actress Niecy Nash once claimed that daily blow jobs were enough to keep a man happy, but her marital advice didn’t stop her and her ex Jay from filing for divorce on October 30th of this year. The two had been married for eight years. The two have remained amicable post split, with Niecy even saying she would like to vet Jay’s future girlfriends.

Jesse Williams & Aryn Drake-Lee

Actor Jesse Williams’ and his ex Aryn Drake-Lee divorced in 2017 after two kids and almost 15 years together, five of them married. The two sparred off in an intense custody and spousal support court drama that unfolded for years. It was reported that Aryn was particularly rocked by the split, because she sacrificed her own career to support Williams in the beginning stages of his acting career. After filing for divorce, Jesse was caught spending time with his co-star, Minka Kelly.

Monica Brown & Shannon Brown

Monica and Shannon Brown’s divorce was finalized in October of 2019 after 9 years of marriage. The two secretly tied the knot in November of 2010, after they fell in love on set while filming the video for Monica’s single, “Love All Over Me.” They both have been pretty mum on what ultimately led to their split, but Monica clarified that it wasn’t infidelity that led to their separation.

Alan Ferguson & Solange

Solange and her ex Alan Ferguson made timeless art together, but their love did not stand the test of time. Solange announced she was separating from Alan in November of 2019 after five years of marriage. Solange announced the news in an Instagram post, saying “11 years ago I met a phenomenal man who changed every existence of my life,” she wrote. “early this year we separated and parted ways, (and tho it ain’t nan no body business) I find it necessary to protect the sacredness of my personal truth and to live in it fully just as I have before and will continue to do.”

Diddy & Cassie

Diddy and Cassie’s public relationship came to a halt last October after nearly 10 years of their on again/off again relationship. Neither camp has said exactly why they broke up, but Cassie moved on quickly–she was married to and had a baby with her trainer Alex Fine within a year. Diddy has been linked to a few women since the split, including Steve Harvey’s daughter, Lori Harvey.

Wendy Williams filed for divorce from her husband Kevin Hunter in April of this year after almost twenty years of marriage. The separation happened amid numerous rumors of domestic abuse and infidelity. Hunter allegedly fathered a baby with his mistress. “Infidelity is one thing, a full baby is a whole other topic,” Williams told the hosts of “The View” in September. “I’m not changing Pampers, I want to be pampered,” she explained.

Paula Patton & Robin Thicke

Robin Thicke and Paula Patton had been together since they were teens, so everyone was shocked when Paula filed for divorce in 2014 after being married to the R&B crooner for nine years. The two split amid rumors of infidelity, particularly after Thicke’s fame grew on the heels of his hit, “Blurred Lines.”

“I’m a man. I messed up, and I had to lie for awhile,” Thicke told Hot 97 back in July of 2014. “And then I stopped lying. And that was actually good for me, because I was tired of lying. So this whole album is me revealing everything.”

Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey separated in 2015 after two kids and 6 years of marriage. The two once considered each other soulmates, but their partnership eventually came to a screeching halt. Even though the two have been divorced for years now, Cannon still speaks highly of his ex-wife. In an interview on TI’s podcast, Cannon admitted he would never marry again after Carey.

“Once I stepped away from that, I [realized] that construct is not designed for me,” he explained. “But even before that, I was like, ‘I don’t believe in marriage.’ But, sh*t, it was Mariah Carey. Whatever she [says], I’m with it. If she wanted to go to the moon, I’m like ‘Let’s go.’ If I’mma marry someone, I’mma marry her.”
