Society is getting more and more accepting of tattoos, which means you have no excuse not to get the one you’ve been thinking of for the last few years. But getting a tattoo as a Black person can be a bit more complicated than it is for others. The color has to show up well, the lines have to last, and we want to get tatted by someone who will respect us and our ideas. Well, we’ve done the work for you to ensure that happens. Brittany Randell is the artist behind the handle @humblebeetattoo. She is based in Toronto, blessing tattoo lovers with her plethora of skills. Her Instagram reveals just how versatile of an artist she really is. She has done portraits, blackout tattoos, flowers, icons, flash pieces, and sleeves. Brittany is booked up until January so you better schedule your appointment now if you want to experience her talent before springtime.

Debbi Snax is an artist based in the ATL. She is currently tattooing at Saints and Sinners, but she does make appearances here and there at festival after-parties, awareness events like iVillage @ MLK, and curator mixers. Chavonna Rhodes is a tattoo artist based in Atlanta. Her incredibly crisp and impossibly detailed tattoos are probably what caught the attention of the right people and landed her a spot in season 9 of Ink Master.
