Ryan Coogler Will Collaborate With Wife Zinzi Evans For New Film

Besides working on the Black Panther sequel, Ryan Coogler is also working with his wife, Zinzi Evans, on another project. The couple will be collaborating to do a screen adaptation of the comic “Bitter Root,” according to Deadline.
“Bitter Root” takes place during the Harlem Renaissance in New York City and follows a family of monster hunters. The Sangeryes hunted and cured humans that were infected with a supernatural force that turned them into monsters. However the new generation of Sangeryes are at odds over whether to slay these monsters or heal them like previous generations. The Image Comics series has released five issues to date and has been a hit with comic book lovers. Two days after the first issue’s release more copies had to be rushed to be released.
Coogler is also working on Space Jam 2, which stars NBA great Lebron James. It was also announced that he has started writing the Black Panther 2 script. The superhero sequel is set to hit theaters May 6th, 2020.
