TBT: Sheryl Lee Ralph Had The Blackest Auntie Wedding Of All Time

Veteran actress Sheryl Lee Ralph is celebrating her 14th anniversary this week, with her husband Senator Vincent Hughes. The couple, who are pretty prominent in the entertainment and political communities obviously had a lot of friends and quite a few of them were in their wedding party. Ralph and Hughes, in celebration, of their anniversary have been sharing pictures of their wedding day, July 30, 2005.

The people Ralph had stand beside her as bridesmaids are star-studded. There’s her Dreamgirls costar Loretta Devine, Soap star Victora Rowell, Judge Mablean Ephriam from “Divorce Court,” Niecy Nash, Jenifer Lewis, AJ Johnson and the legend Patti LaBelle.

Ralph shared that she and Hughes met each other after a friend set them up on a blind date. Her friend told her at the time, “don’t block your blessings.”

Amen.

In addition to the love she shared with her husband, Ralph also shared a funny story about one of her bridesmaids, Jenifer Lewis.

“There I am all dressed up, getting ready to come through the doors and Jenifer Lewis looks at me and she says, ‘Uh Ralph. I know this your wedding. It’s your day. But I may never have one so when I come through those doors, it is all about me. Ha!’ Yes, she did. She said it to me just that way before I went down the aisle for my own wedding. But I love my friend Jenifer Lewis.”

Lewis responded to the story with jokes.

“ALL Lies. I would never do such a thing. I remember being very shy and sweet and supportive. OK I’m llying it’s all true. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️”
