At the top of the year, former NBA player Amar’e Stoudemire believed his nearly six-year marriage to Alexis Welch was “irretrievably broken.”
He filed for divorce.
But according to The Blast, in the months since then, nothing has progressed between him and Welch. She never responded to the petition. And recently, a Florida judge dismissed Stoudemire’s filing. The divorce was dismissed due to failure to file additional documents to progress the separation.
Stoudemire filed for divorce in October 2018 but never served Welch with papers. This past February, he asked for an extension to do so but it seems he’s had a change of heart or he’s a big procrastinator.
As we reported earlier, there is no clear indicator of what went wrong with these two. But the child Amar’e fathered in 2016 with Quynn Lovett, a girl named Zoe Renee, might have had something to do with it. Initially, Stoudemire didn’t know if the child was his. But in 2017, a DNA test proved that he was indeed the father. And he began paying over $4,000 in child support.
The couple share four children together, Ar’e. Amar’e Jr., Assata and Alijah, their youngest son born in 2013.
