Cardi B says she’s giving up on plastic surgery — at least for now.
The side effects of her recent procedures have been enough that the 26-year-old is trying other methods to get and keep the body she wants, like exercising. She took to Twitter to tell her fans and followers that she’s been working out consistently for two weeks and, thankfully, hasn’t been getting the same headaches.
If you’ve been following Cardi’s latest surgical journey, you know that after giving birth to her daughter Kulture last July, she had her breasts done and liposuction on her midsection. After the latter procedure, the star tried to rush back to work.
“I have some news for y’all. I should have canceled today… I shouldn’t really be performing because moving too much is gonna f–k up my lipo,” she said last month. “But f–k it, I’m still gonna get my f–king money back. Let’s go!”
She inevitably ended up having to cancel some performances due to her body’s reaction to the medical work.
“Cardi was overzealous in getting back to work; she didn’t take the time necessary to fully recover from her surgery,” her rep said. “Her strenuous schedule has taken a toll on her body and she has been given strict doctor’s orders to pull out of the rest of her performances in May.”
She returned to the stage in June, including for Hot 97’s Summer Jam, but shared a photo recently with fans of her extremely swollen feet. She said every time she flies these days, her feet and stomach swell up, and things like that were part of the reason her doctors told her to take it easy on performances.
Cardi has been taking it easy since then, from work and plastic surgery, and the experts say that’s necessary in her case.
Botched star and surgeon Terry Dubrow, M.D., recently told TMZ Live he was concerned about her side effects and overall health.
“The fact that her legs are still this swollen indicates that there’s something more going on than we’re actually hearing about,” he said. “There’s an obstruction to flow back to the heart. That means there’s a problem from the liposuction in the groin that we don’t know about.”
“She really needs to get it together,” he added. “It just bothers me that she’s this far out and still having leg swelling.”
Well, once you know better, you do better, and it seems that Cardi has learned from this experience. We’re glad she’s in the gym and opting out of being on the surgeon’s table.
