I have a few friends who have found themselves involved with men who are into bondage, and there’s always a common theme: those men are very powerful men. Outside of the bedroom, they are always on top, they are always the ones calling the shots, and they are always given the utmost respect everywhere they go. In their sex life, they like to be on the bottom (literally and figuratively), they like to be given orders, and they actually like to be disrespected. I guess it feeds into that assumption that those who are regal in the streets are freaks in the sheets. For some, sex is a place to release our traits that we feel aren’t acceptable in the other arenas of our lives. If you’ve recently started dating a super powerful man, just don’t be shocked if he has a sex dungeon and asks you to be in charge…Here are some reasons powerful men are attracted to bondage.
They’re tired of decision-making
Powerful people have to make decisions all day long. They never get to turn their decision-making skills off. They have to make decisions that affect others—in sometimes massive ways—all day long. They like handing over the decision-making to someone else in sex.
And telling others what to do
They more specifically give orders all day long. It can leave them feeling…bad. It can create a build up of one energy that they feel the need to counteract. During bondage, if you’re the submissive one, you’re told what to do.
They did bad things to become powerful
It’s no secret at this point that many powerful people became that way by doing bad things—perhaps by literally stepping on others. That’s why some powerful people like to literally be stepped on in bondage. They want to punish themselves.
Dropping the façade of perfection
The more powerful someone is, the more he has to be aware of his appearance—constantly. Powerful people feel as if they must appear perfect all of the time. To be allowed to just get gagged and tied up wearing a tail can be a relief.
A release of carnal urges
Everything in business discussions is very calculated. Nobody can say or do exactly what they want. Even when a powerful person wants to lunge across the table and hit someone, he can’t. Just being able to react on a carnal level can be a release.
They are adamant feminists
Some powerful men are drawn to bondage because they are adamant feminists. Perhaps in their career, they see women not receiving the respect or being elevated to the level of power they deserve. They like that in bondage, the roles are reversed and their dominatrix can be on top.
Words are turned upside down
Words are so perfectly and carefully curated in business and professional interactions. Some powerful individuals like the fact that words can mean anything you want in bondage. Banana cream pie can mean “harder.”
Preemptive humiliation
For some, being dominated in bondage is a way of preemptively making their worst fears—of being humiliated—come true. If they are humiliated in bondage, they can stop worry about being humiliated the next day. It already happened.
Putting responsibility in someone else’s hands
The safety, future, and wellbeing are often in the hands of someone powerful. It can be nice to just hand that responsibility to someone else for an hour.
It’s as openly dark as their work secretly is
Some powerful men like the fact that bondage is open about its darkness and its dirtiness, especially since they operate in worlds where dirtiness and darkness are often concealed.
A release of their feminine side
Men feel that they must be traditionally masculine at work—they must be domineering, assertive, and bossy. They need a place where their more feminine desires can be played out.
A complete mental escape
Being powerful can be exhausting. The brain never turns off. Extreme physical sensations, like pain and pleasure, can take a powerful person out of his head for a while.
Rules are vocal and clear
Unlike in business, when rules can be blurred and changed at any minute, the rules in bondage are clear-cut.
A disgust of their money
Some wealthy men despise their money. They don’t like what they do to earn it. So they like finding a perverted way to spend it as a form of disrespecting it.
It’s one secret
If someone is very much in the public eye, it can feel like no part of his life is a secret. But there is a strict no-tell code amongst doms and their submissives. Bondage is one thing these men can keep as a secret.
