I Can’t Believe I Was That Person: Waka Flocka Says Loving And Supporting A Woman Isn’t Weak
Some men — rappers especially — never evolve beyond their internalized misogyny and hold tight to the idea that women exist for their pleasure alone and that love, and even monogamy, are weak. Waka Flocka, however, isn’t one of them. After a rough patch of infidelity during his marriage to Tammy Rivera, the 32-year-old has turned over a completely new leaf. In fact, he and Tammy had an elaborate wedding ceremony earlier this year to mark five years of marriage and when asked how they got to this happy place in their union after nearly splitting, Waka shared:
“I couldn’t even believe I was that person. I just was young. My morals were different. My understanding was different. The circumstances I was put in was different. Now I got control. I actually run my life.”
