You are more than beautiful

Whether you’re oily or not, a good primer is an essential step for flawless all-day makeup. Not only does primer help your beat hold up against the summer sun, but it also creates a smooth canvas for your foundation and a key barrier between your skin and products that could potentially clog your pores. That being said, if you are an oily girl or an excessive t-zone sweater, primer is your best friend. Click through to check out five of the best primers for sweat-proof makeup this summer.

BECCA EVER-MATTE PORELESS PRIMING PERFECTOR

As a dancer, I need a primer that’s going to stand up to the test of full-out moves under bright stage lights. The Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector ($39.00, sephora.com) has never let me down. It’s easy to go overboard with this product as you only need the tiniest pea size amount—this is not the primer that you rub all over your face like moisturizer. Take a small amount and rub it between two fingers to warm up the product. Then, tap—don’t rub—the primer directly into the areas where you tend to get oily. Trust me, a little goes a long way and your makeup will definitely be in place all day.

MAYBELLINE FACESTUDIO MASTER PRIME PRIMER

We love a drugstore option that delivers, and for primers, that’s the Maybelline Facestudio Master Prime Primer ($7.64, walmart.com). This primer comes in different formulas to tackle different concerns, but I like the blur + pore minimize version to create a glaze-like smooth surface across my face. My foundation blends on top seamlessly and lasts longer than it would without.

FENTY BEAUTY PRO FILT’R INSTANT RETOUCH PRIMER

When it comes to an everyday primer for my combination skin, the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer ($32.00, sephora.com) is definitely my go-to. I love this because it doubles as a moisturizer for the normal areas of my skin, but still serves as a primer to keep makeup in place on my oily areas. Also, as a combination skin girl with some dry patches, matte foundations aren’t always my friend. I love a matte finish for a full glam night, but it can be unforgiving on my drier areas. The Fenty primer is hydrating enough to balance out any matte base product so that I can have the look I love without the discomfort or flakiness.

MILK MAKEUP HYDRO GRIP PRIMER

The Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer ($30.00, sephora.com) is a confounding little gem. As indicated by “hydro,” this primer delivers a dose of hydration that I don’t typically associate with primers made to hold. Despite the moisture, the product still grips onto your makeup and keeps it in place all day. Tap this one into the skin and the blue agave extract creates a tacky feeling that literally grabs on to your foundation. Moisture and staying power make this primer a two-for-one.

COVER FX GRIPPING PRIMER

Last but not least is the Cover FX Gripping Primer ($38.00, ulta.com). Like the Milk Makeup and Becca primers, this one should be tapped into the skin, not rubbed. The jelly texture will transform before your eyes into a glassy finish that holds onto your makeup. For the best look, stipple your foundation over top with patting motions, or use a beauty blender.
