Kinky curly hair can benefit from the lengthening from a stretched twist-out or fullness of a bantu-knot out. Personally, I’m a twistout type of woman; however, I’ve been trying to grow my hair, which means, for me, less manipulation. With this being said, my Day 3, Day 4, and yes, even Day 5 hair need to still look good and nourished.

Curl Refresher Sprays help hydrate and redefine your curls, have become a staple in my hair routine. Spray as much as you need to help your curls get the boost they need. For my particular hair texture, which is Type 4C, with some Type 4B in the front (zig zag curls, with tighter ones in the back and looser curls in the front), I will do a twistout, untwist it and start to spray curl refresher spray on day 2 or 3. It helps make my hair bigger and my curls stay somewhat defined.

Here are my top 5 that work great on my Type 4, (4B, 4C mix) hair. Which one are your faves?!

CAROL’S DAUGHTER HAIR MILK REFRESHER SPRAY

This Carol’s Daughter Hair Milk Refresher Spray ($11.00, carolsdaughter.com), was actually my first introduction to the product. It worked so well on my hair, I thought all refresher sprays were like this! (They are not). The product contains sunflower seed extract, which is great for growth stimulation.

DOVE CARE BETWEEN WASHES RESTYLER RE-STYLING MILK

What does Dove know about Type 4 hair? I was a bit shocked to discover that their Re-Styling Milk ($4.88, walmart.com) left my hair soft and smelling good. I read the ingredients on the back of the product and they used products like glycerin, which is good for preventing breakage and lactic acid, which is great for dry hair…but I thought it was a little lazy not to add essential oils or mix in something additional. Nevertheless, for under $5.00, this product works.  They say to apply to your hands and work into your hair, but I spray directly on to my hair and work it in. I mix this with another re-styling spray that has more of an oil base and the combination has been my go-to for the past month.

PROCLAIM JAMAICAN BLACK CASTOR OIL CURL REFRESHER SPRAY

I love this curl refresher spray ($6.29, sallybeauty.com)! The product hydrates and gives your hair moisture. I love spraying this on my Day 2 and 3 hair. The formula is kind of watery, but I like that, because it’s not too heavy. I mix this with the Dove Between Washes Refresher Spray and it makes a combo like no other. I love this curl refresher on its own too. I’ve traveled with it several times, making it work the $30.00 checked bag fee. It’s also on sale at the link above for under $5.00!

AFRICAN PRIDE MOISTURE MIRACLE COCONUT MILK AND HONEY LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER

Now, I know we’re writing about curl refresher sprays, but African Pride Moisture Miracle Coconut Milk And Honey Leave-In Conditioner ($7.68, beautyofnewyork.com), is a great product for refreshing your curls. You have to shake the bottle well before use. The coconut milk and the honey replenishes moisture to the hair and adds shine while softening. It has no parabens, no mineral oil, no sulfates, and no petroleum, but has great ingredients like coconut oil, avocado oil, and more. It’s also on sale at the above link for under $5.00!

It features mango oil, which is great for people who have nut allergies but want poppin’ curls. Mango oil has fatty acids and other vitamins and help soften your hair.
