Will's Indecisive, Passive-Aggressiveness Hit Its Peak At The Reunion

Tuesday night marked the reunion episode of Married at First Sight, and there were plenty of very interesting updates shared and behind-the-scenes drama, too. This was mostly the case for notoriously bad match Luke and Kate (turns out, she thought he was gay for a large chunk of their relationship), but also for the defunct couple we were rooting for: Jasmine and Will.

Last we left off, Jasmine was willing to stay together in order to truly get to know Will better, and to do so outside of the stressful, pressure-filled MAFS process. Unfortunately, Will wasn’t, citing his favorite issue: communication. During the reunion, though, we were informed by Jasmine that she and Will has remained in touch and were friends, but that he’s asked about the possibility of going on some dates. Talk about confusing.

When host Kevin Frasier asked them if that meant a reconciliation was in the cards, Jasmine did the smart thing of letting Will answer first this time (since she wore her heart on her sleeve last time). After beating around the bush, Will said, “I don’t know,” stating that you never know what the future holds. But Jasmine, with just a tinge of hesitation, said the chances of them trying again were a “No” for her. So even though neither of them had started dating again just yet, she already knew her first date post-divorce was not going to be with Will. Can’t blame her.

For the record, Jasmine believed that their relationship started to flounder romantically because they were operating from too much of a friendly place. However, Will denied that, saying the real issue was that romantic emotions weren’t tied to what they were doing — including their failed intimate moments. When asked flat out if he was attracted to Jasmine, Will said yes, but overall, claimed his issue was with the fact that they weren’t compatible (he got a little more honest there, but not all the way)…and their differences on communication. You know he had to bring that up again for the fifty-eleventh time.

Will hinted that he wanted a partnership and was pretty much turned off by Jasmine’s insistence that he take on the majority of the financial responsibility in the house. But you have to give her some credit, though. Despite the fact that her old-school views on marriage played a part in tanking this relationship, Jasmine said she’s not budging on her opinion that going 50/50 just isn’t for her. Clearly that’s a value that’s very important to her, and even if you don’t like it, it’s somewhat commendable to want to stand by that in the face of a failed marriage.

Will all that being said, it looks like you can completely stick a fork in Jasmine and Will, and that’s likely for the best. I’m going to keep saying it until my face turns blue: Will should have just been 100 percent honest about how some of her viewpoints made him feel, and how that in turn impacted the marriage. He let the truth slip out here and there during the reunion, but not fully, causing them to never be on the same page as to why their relationship ended. He even tried to low-key call her selfish at the end of the episode, which she caught, and called out.

Overall, I think he missed out on the opportunity to give this marriage, with its ups and downs, a true, fair shot, instead choosing to showcase some super passive-aggressive behavior. And if Will couldn’t communicate and make it work with the experts involved, embarrassing her on national TV, there’s no way he should be able to get a second chance and date her without them, on his own terms. Run, Jasmine.
