Last week, Amber Rose announced that she and boyfriend Alexander Edwards, or “AE,” are expecting their first child together, a baby boy. The 35-year-old beauty shared the news by posting a photo of herself at a doctor’s appointment getting an ultrasound.
“@ae4president and I are SUPER excited to announce that we have a Sweet little Baby Boy on the way!” she wrote. “P.S Sebastian is soooooo Happy to be a big brother!”

If you paid close attention to her announcement, you may have noticed that Rose used an emoji representing vomiting to share the news. That’s because, according to reports, she’s been batting with some tough morning sickness, and not just any kind of nausea.
According to TMZ, sources told the site that Rose is 13 weeks pregnant and was recently diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum. It’s a rare form of morning sickness characterized by persistent vomiting leading to hydration and the inability to keep food down, severe nausea, weight loss and possible electrolyte disturbances. While many women deal with morning sickness, with this condition, according to American Pregnancy, nausea often doesn’t subside during the pregnancy, or if it does, it’s not until the end.
The source who spoke to TMZ said that Rose was hospitalized for a few days recently and had to get IV treatments to help with her condition.
Their son is due in October, the same month as her birthday (Oct. 21). And while Rose reportedly wasn’t doing the whole family planning thing (the source says she and Edwards weren’t “taking precautions” because they’re head over heels in love with one another), the couple are overjoyed about expecting a child together.
This will be Rose’s second child, as she shares 6-year-old son Sebastian with ex-husband, rapper Wiz Khalifa.
Rose isn’t the first to go through some pretty terrible morning sickness. Check out a few other moms who opened up about dealing with a rough start on the road to motherhood, and in some cases, who also revealed they were suffering with hyperemesis gravidarum, by hitting the flip:

Ayesha Curry
When carrying her son and third child, Canon, Ayesha Curry shared around four months along that she was battling with hyperemesis gravidarum.
“I really feel no different than I did in my first trimester,” she wrote on her website at the time. “I still have nausea, can’t sleep, pee every 5 seconds and am just so darn tired.”
She said that she had “barely been able to eat let alone cook,” and she couldn’t wait to hurry up and have her son, which she finally did in July.

Tia Mowry
Matching her twin, Tia Mowry revealed in 2011 when pregnant with son Cree that she was struggling so much with morning sickness, she had to take precautions.
“The nausea kind of got the best of me,” she said during a 2011 interview on Access Hollywood Live. “I actually wear these nausea bands—they’re like motion sickness bands that people wear on, like, cruise ships and stuff,—and they have been my best friends. They’re part of my wardrobe now.”
