Beyoncé and Jay-Z have come a mighty long way since they started dating in 2002. They’ve wed, made hit records together, done an album, two tours, had three kids, overcome infidelity, won awards and made millions. They’ve managed to become one of the most high-profile couples in the world, and on the way to becoming that, they have gone through a serious style transformation as well. The pair, who started their relationship in fitted caps, Rocawear, baggy denim, Manolo Blahnik boots and Mama Tina’s one-of-a-kind gowns, have switched it up over the years to sleek suits and custom pieces from top designers. It’s been a sight to see. Some of it can be attributed to the different stylists they’ve brought in over the years for their looks, including Jay’s longtime stylist June Ambrose, and Bey’s team, which has included Ty Hunter, Zerina Ackers and Jenke Ahmed Tailly. But Ambrose told W last year that the couple are very much involved in how their looks come together for their shows and projects, including for the very fashion-focused, critically acclaimed “Apesh-t” video.
“Every detail they’re involved in, which is really nice,” she said. “They’re the real deal. We put our looks together and then we get together and place them with each other with both of them involved.”
Their style has definitely matured as their relationship has. In celebration of their 11th wedding anniversary, take a look at that style evolution by hitting the flip:
