Rapsody On Being A Single Woman: “My Purpose Is Bigger Than My Need To Have Kids Or Be Married”
Despite the number of female MCs that have blessed the rap game — and the fact that it’s 2019 — hip-hop is still very much a male-dominated industry. It’s for that reason that rapper Rapsody says she’s more focused on her purpose than that other p-word attached to men.
When we asked the North Carolina native about dating, she jokingly invited men to slide into her DMs after telling us she’s single. But when it came time to be serious, Rapsody explained she’s unattached because “It’s kinda hard to focus on anything else because I know my fight is a lot harder than any guys.” Elaborating further on her determination to succeed as a woman in hip-hop, she said, “I have a purpose, I think. And my purpose is bigger than my need to have kids or to be married so I’m just doing what’s making me happy right now.”
