Summer Whites…Wines
Water is the best thirst quencher in sweltering heat and we should be drinking it all day to replenish lost liquids. Got it? OK, so now that that service announcement is out of the way how about a little crisp, refreshing vino?
These dry white wines, recommended by Everyday Food (Martha Stewart’s mini mag) are affordable and refreshing and go well with the lighter foods we eat in the heat.
- Muscadet – Clean and crisp, this wine is from the western Loire Valley of France. Traditionally enjoyed with oysters, it also goes well with shrimp and chicken.
- Sauvignon Blanc – New Zealand varieties are fresh-tasting and go great with seafood and Asian food appetizers like spring rolls.
- Pinot Grigio – Try an Italian Santa Margherita, which has a lovely crisp acidity; drink it as an aperitif or with chicken, pizza or sandwiches.
Enjoy!
