Holder Lashes Out at New Gitmo Curb
(Wall Street Journal) — A measure in Congress that effectively bars the transfer of Guantanamo detainees to the U.S. for trial drew a sharp reaction from the Obama administration Thursday, with Attorney General Eric Holder calling it “extremely unwise.” The restriction was tucked into a $1.1 trillion appropriations bill to fund the government that the Democrat-led House passed Wednesday night. It now heads to the Senate, where administration officials expect a similar bill, including the effective prohibition against moving detainees to the U.S. for trial, to pass and become law.
