During last night’s Oscar festivities (the actual event and the after-sets as I like to call the parties), Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman hit the red carpet with his longtime girlfriend Taylor Simone Ledward, and they looked stunning. The 41-year-old actor wore Givenchy while his lady wore a low-cut black pleated gown. Seeing them side-by-side, all smiles, is a nice change, because though they’ve been an item for some time (reportedly dating back to 2015), he usually hits red carpets alone and then meets up with Ledward inside events. But the couple’s relationship is very solid. So much so, in fact, that Ledward’s grandmother actually told OK! last year that she was giving Boseman her seal of approval.
“They respect each other,” she said. “She’s very happy and he is, too.”
And Ledward’s sister is very protective of their relationship.
After Black Panther there was all sorts of talk about the chemistry Lupita Nyong’o had on-camera with Boseman (and off-camera with Michael B. Jordan). For the record, Boseman said it was easy for them to have the great vibes you saw on-screen.
“It’s not hard to fall in love with Lupita. She’s a beautiful person,” he told E! News. “She’s intelligent, strong, assertive. You fall in love with people when you see them in their light, when you see them doing what they do, and they illuminate a certain aura.”
When fans tried to encourage an actual relationship between him and Nyong’o, Ledward’s sister shut all of that down.
“His real life queen is gorgeous, and together they embody true love,” she said in an Instagram comment. “Not to mention they would make some beautiful babies!”
We agree with her on that. As Ledward is getting more and more comfortable stepping in the spotlight with her man, we’re fawning over how beautiful the pair look together. Outside of last night’s Academy Awards, check out more photos of the couple together by hitting the flip.
