Many stars who broke into the entertainment industry with gap-toothed smiles or chipped teeth have, as the years have gone on, decided to get them made over. Take for example, Keyshia Cole, Nas, and Fabolous. Now model, entrepreneur and Kylie Jenner’s BFF, Jordyn Woods, can be added to that list.
In December 2018, she decided to have work done to close her teeth, seeking out LA-based dentist Dr. Kam Kamangar, who equipped her with veneers and changed her smile. According to the 21-year-old, who spoke to Refinery29 about her new look, “I just woke up one morning and decided to do it.”
But her choice didn’t come without some criticism from fans. Woods had previously said that she wasn’t going to “fix my gap to blend in with the rest of society!” after she found commenters online telling her to fix her teeth. In fact, she emphatically said, “My gap makes me who I am,” back in 2017. So when she popped up with a new smile, people asked her why, told her they missed her gap, and said the gap made her stand out. Some even claimed she was being “fake.”
The real reason behind the change though, according to Woods, was that she wanted to do something different. Just that simple. It had nothing to do with her not being confident in her look.
