Hip-Hop Hall of Fame Awards Returning to Television
(The BoomBox) — Semi-popular in the ’90s, the Hip-Hop Hall of Fame Awards have been relatively dormant as BET’s Hip-Hop Awards, Vh1’s Hip-Hop Honors and MTV’s VMAs have stolen its audience away with flashy performances and an emphasis on new artists. Well, if you’re into the old school, here’s some good news: The Hall of Fame is returning to television for the first time in over a decade with a new ceremony that will be taped on April 28, 2011. Leading up to the awards, the museum, which also plans to open a new complex in New York City, will lead a series of community outreach events, including a leadership symposium, the launch of a social networking site and appearances by what the organization vaguely dubs “celebrities, community, political, business, arts, industry and New York City leaders.”
