ANGELA BASSETT

Mama Angela did not come to play. We’re loving her long curly red carpet ‘do. The finger waves in the front just add to the glamour. You can get the look too with Big Chop Hair Corkscrew Clip In’s 20 inches ($160.00, BigChopHair.BigCartel.com). This comes with eight clip-ins which is an equivalent to about a pound of hair.

KIKI LAYNE

Kiki Layne is quickly becoming a red carpet darling and one can see why. The brown beauty glowed on the red carpet with her melanin looking like she just got some Caribbean sun then stepped on the carpet! You can buy this glow too with C.Y.O. Bronzing Shimmer Oil ($7.00, Walgreens.com). This enhances your natural glow, slightly. If you want something heavier or more pigmented, go with Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops ($42.00, Ulta.com) and mix it with your lotion and your foundation or just accent it on your collar bone and up the middle of your leg and thigh for instant illumination.

LAURA HARRIER

Spiderman: Homecoming actress Laura Harrier gave us a refreshingly beautiful look on the red carpet, letting her skin and natural beauty take center stage. I love the simplicity of this look yet she’s still giving me a natural glam (which I’m so here for). The cat eye and simple one shade pink eye shadow. You can get this look using Urban Decay Backtalk Eye And Face Palette ($68.78, Walmart.com). If the price tag seems a little hefty, it comes with eight eyeshadows in the pink and purple range and 4 highlighter/blush combos (that also look good on the eyes). You can build the eye look out even more with the beautiful purple in the crease of your eye like I did below.

This is one of my favorite palettes in my makeup stash!

ISSA RAE

We were green with envy over this forest green smokey eye that the Insecure star and creator sported on the red carpet. It paired so nicely with her sexy all black dress. However, we were here for this chocolate brown lip. You can get the loop with The Lip Bar Liquid Matte Lipstick in Savage ($13.00, TheLipBar.com). This chocolate matte lipstick has a beautiful warm undertone. It looks great as a nude for dark-skinned black women or a vampy color if you are of a lighter melanin hue. The best part? This is a black-owned company.

It’s also a personal favorite of mine and I can attest that every black girl needs to add this to her lipstick collection.

Amandla Stenberg was the lady in red at the 24th Annual Critics’ Choice Award show but we were so focused on her matte brown nails!

You can get this look too with OPI Nail Lacquer in ‘Shhh, It’s Top Secret’ ($10.50, OPI.com). This color is a deep dark brown that almost reads as black. You can get the matte effect (to this nail polish and any look) using OPI Matte Top Coat ($10.50, Ulta.com), which will tone down the shine on any polish but still let the color thrive.
