Clyburn Pursues Minority Whip Post
(The State) — U.S. House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn set up a possible bitter internal struggle among fellow Democrats on Friday by writing his colleagues and asking them to support him as the party’s No. 2 leader in the next session of Congress. Clyburn disclosed his plans to run for House minority whip, while current House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer of Maryland said he may seek the same post. “Throughout the course of my tenure, I have demonstrated the ability and willingness to give selfless service to our caucus,” Clyburn wrote in his “Dear Democratic Colleague” letter.
