Angela Bassett To Angela Simmons: The Best Bikini Body Moments Of 2018

As we say goodbye to 2018, we’ve been looking back on a whole host of things, from celebrity deaths and engagements to Black women winning. Something else we’re looking back on is body positivity moments, and what better way to show you love the skin you’re in than to live your best life, unabashed, in a teeny, weenie bikini. To hell with stretch marks, cellulite or any other perceived imperfections that might hold you back.

A number of your favorites did it this year while enjoying fun in the sun. That includes new moms showing off the work they’ve done to get back to their bodies before baby, beauties of varying shapes and sizes (lean and tall models, plus-size beauties), and some starlets over 50. Some stayed in a two-piece all-year long (stunting in a bikini is what Ashanti does best remember?) while others would slip in one while occasionally enjoying a vacation. Their confidence, and sometimes their fit frames, made us more confident in wearing and showing off our own, whether we have what society deems the “perfect” bikini body or not. Besides, as Halle Berry put it, the perfect bikini body is the one you feel best in.

“For me, having a great beach body is so much more than looking good in a bikini, it’s more about FEELING good in your body!” she said recently. “No matter what the actual shape of your body is, when you can put on a bikini or swim trunks and FEEL confident, that’s the win! For me, that confidence has always come as a result of loving myself enough to put my health and wellness first by doing the necessary work.”
