2018 has been a crazy year in politics, news, and entertainment, per usual. As with every yearly celeb news cycle, there were epic hookups (like, this Safaree and Erica Mena thing is totally out of the blue), and epic breakups (hey Cardi and Offset!).

It makes sense that so many splits go down in the land of Hollywood. A former celebrity assistant wrote a piece for HuffPo explaining why so many celeb relationships seem to fail.  For one, these people have unlimited access to temptation. The luxurious industry parties mixed with flowing open bar settings make the perfect formula for slip ups and betrayal. Second, divorce can be pricey! Even though celebs have to dish out funds for lawyer fees or alimony, the average Joe probably doesn’t have enough capital to go through with the process. Not to mention, these famous folk have strenuous schedules whether it is filming or touring around the globe. Healthy relationships can be hard to maintain when you’re always on the go. Last but not least, ego is a thing. Famous people may have a hard time putting their partner’s needs before their own when the whole world worships them.

Regardless of the reason for the breakup, many of our celeb favs made the decision to end their relationships this year. Here are a  few:
