ATL Board Members Threaten Suit
(AJC) — Four dissenting Atlanta school board members have hired their own legal counsel and, in a formal letter, said they were ready to go to court should the board not act Monday to reverse a takeover by five other members. The move, which was expected, comes a week after Georgia Attorney General Thurbert Baker said those five members had no authority to do what they did last month: change policy to allow the removal of board leadership midterm. They then voted 5-4 to replace the board’s chairwoman and vice chairwoman with new officers.
