Clear Channel Joins Fight Against AIDS in The Black Community
(San Antonio Biz Journal) — Clear Channel Communications has joined a national media coalition to promote the Kaiser Family Foundation’s Greater Than AIDS campaign. The campaign is designed to bring awareness of the disease’s devastating effects to the African-American community. African Americans account for nearly half of all new HIV infections occurring in the United States each year. This is despite the fact that African Americans represent only 13 percent of the total U.S. population. African Americans are also significantly more likely to die as a result of AIDS-related complications than people from other races and ethnicities. Some 1.2 million Americans currently are living with HIV/AIDS.
