Virginia 4-Day Week Would Ease Commutes
(WTOP.com) — It’s simple cause and effect. Take thousands of cars off local roadways, and those roads will be less crowded.
As Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell decides whether to implement a four-day work week for state employees, some are wondering what impact that would have on roadways in Northern Virginia.
“Any reduction (in vehicles) is going to help, particularly for workers that are in the outer areas where we don’t have very high transit usage,” Ron Kirby, director of transportation planning at the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, tells WTOP.
